I’m very surprised Butterbean lost that. He seemed to be in prime shape for the fight ;P

  • the guy singing was a complete idiot if you ask me, complete disrespect for the star spangled banner and the USA in my opinion, what an idiot.

  • mike butterworth says:

    pathetic!

  • BuzzBradski says:

Butterbean’s face didn’t look too bad afterwards, considering he was just ‘hit’ about 20-30 times. I see a little early Lesnar style GNP from Pud. I wonder if he will evolve it into preasent day Lesnar style…

  • bigj93 says:

lmfao what a pathetic side show fight

  • eddieko says:

wow that was horrible butterbean was like a turtle fliped on its shell… the other dude didnt even get the mount it was like a school yard fight

  • tonyinCNY says:

Butterbean looked as though he put on another 50 or 100 lbs since his prime. He was like a turtle on his back. Mariusz could have just stood up and he would have won the match since Butterbean couldn’t have gotten up by himself.

Butterbean put in as much training for this fight as James Toney did for his fight against Randy Couture.

  • HAP says:

What a horrible display… and the announcers were so into it.

  • Justin says:

Smallest I’ve seen Pudz in a fight, he only weighed in at 260. Maybe a sign he’s taking this MMA thing seriously?

    • DrDoom says:

He’s obviously been told that strongman training just wont do . Those arms look great in the poster but get knockdown a few times and its like having tree trunks tied to your shoulders .Will he be UFC caliber …mmmmmm no , not with the lack of prior martial arts skills or highish caliber wrestling . But he has a serious shot at being a DREAM attraction for a few shows . I’d like to see him fight that Satoshi Iishi dude — the gold medal judo guy from 2008 . He didnt look to stellar in his first fight but they love him ,stick him with a freakishly huge guy like Pudzianowski and its a godzilla movie .

I could comment harshly on the horrific attempt to sing the Star Spangled Banner, but its not like YouTube isn’t chockful of stateside singers who sh!t the bed before kickoff, and English IS their primary language.

I could also comment on the sideshow nature of the embarrassing Esch-Pudzianowski “fight”, but again its not like YouTube isn’t chockful of lopsided stateside MMA sideshow bouts.

He11, after James Toney co-main evented a UFC PPV, if some overseas promoter pays Eric Esch, Bob Sapp, Hong Man Choi, or some other supersized circus attraction to fight a grizzly bear in an electrified cage under the Big Top, a guy like me who has literally invested thousands in supporting the UFC over the last decade doesn’t really have any grounds to p!ss in another org’s corn flakes.

Pudzianowski looked good, and I was glad to see him at a weight recognized in North America, but how could he not look good against so corpulent an opponent?
For those that enjoyed this event all I can say is that I hope you got your money’s worth, and for those who didn’t all I can say is that you should have known better…

    • Arnold Darkshner says:

you said it, all the guys you mentioned are more skilled in mma then james toney and he co-headlined a ufc event!?1?1

no difference between butterbean and toney in my opinion

      • Red Eye Jedi says:

There is no difference between a former champion in pro boxing and a freakshow like buterbean? Granted they both wont do much in mma but toney at least is very talented in one aspect, boxing.

      • jcohl says:

I guess in the interests of fairness and accuracy I should post that the main difference between Eric Esch and James Toney is that Esch has actually engaged somewhat in an actual MMA career, and has close to 25 MMA fights, as dbiz once reminded me in his overly friendly way on another thread.
        ;)
Now I’ll forego commenting on the cred and/or skill level of Esch’s opponents, or the promotions in which he’s fought, but the guy has 15 pro MMA wins to his name and at least [reportedly] occasionally trains with ATT, as opposed to James Toney, who as best as I could tell in the VERY brief time he spent in the Octagon can’t determine the difference between a kneebar and a candy bar, and looked at the weigh-ins like he trained in the parking lot of In and Out Burger.
        ;)

Anthem incident aside, I don’t understand the issue people have with Pudzianowski. He retired from strongman and now wants to us his fame to make a living. He is a national hero in Poland. I personally saw him fight at Moosin and he was not only respectful but also put on the best performance he could for his fans. Lets face hes not headlining a UFC or Strikeforce card nor is he even on a DREAM car. I don’t consider his fights to be freakshows or sideshows simply because like any other new fighter he will not do well against top competition nor will he face much of it. Let the man have his day Honestly the worst that happens is he trains hard win s a few fights and come to the UFC and fights a Mike Russow big deal.

  • bob says:

    that was just plain stupid

  • superman says:

    thats not even right..
sorry to say but butterbean looked like a turtle once he got on his back no way he was getting up

  • JiutjitsuMAN says:

butterbean should have rolled over and given puds his back… its not like he could have gotten choked out.. no neck = no rear naked

With all the PED threads on the frenzy this week i’m just glad to be able to have a topic like this that doesn’t have those nasty conotations.
