he challenges the champ gsp then says he can’t make his weight class… says okami is sooo storng, “like trying to move a tree” then talks sh!t about brock lesner who litrally has about 100 pounds of mucsle on him! and he did his best against silva and it wasn’t enough.. so exept the attention whore part he didn’t and can’t back what he is talking about! we will see in the rematch? IMO
Let’s look at what he said the first time around against Silva:
1. “I have ___ NCAA championship plaques on my wall that say I can take him down at will.” Truth and proven.
2. “I’m going to put him on his prissy little ass.” Truth and proven.
3. “Anderson, you are going to be on your back more than a pornstar with a mortgage.” Truth and proven.
4. “A lot of that moving, or what you call clowning, is what he uses for a set up.” Truth, and proven that it won’t always work.
5. “I’m going to walk out the champion.” That’s the one he missed on.
You can call him a troll if you want, but it just goes to show you don’t know what the word means.
This has been your lesson in talking and backing it up. Goodnight.

He might have done what you listed below….but you forgot to list the fact that he also tapped. I understand that many people hate Anderson for his past performances and that chael talking all this smack won him fans. You can list everything you want on how great his performance was that night just remember that he lost and Anderson won. I don’t know why chael is acting like I beat him up I controlled him and showed the world that Anderson is a tool and all I need is a second chance to show it again but this time I’ll win. Whatever look it up he lost. Can’t back my argument with anything better then facts and the fact I that chael tapped and lost. I’m glad he got an immediate rematch let’s see how things unfold.

Jeremy Botter of Heavy.com said that he got to hear some of Chael’s unused material, and that it was a shame he didn’t get to use it.
Chael is insane…but he’s great! You have to appreciate his candor!

You know being Canadian and being a huge GSP fan, I still respect Chael, he has no fear and isn’t afraid to come out and call anybody and everybody out and say what others think, but do not have the nerve to say in public let alone on television. He got in there and dominated Silva and got caught and does not deny it, but he still feels he is a better fighter and I believe it. All I can say is Chael picks fights and backs it up.
I don’t get how everyone seems to love Chael’s Soundoff, while Mir and Hughes have received constant hate for being cocky or spouting MMA knowledge. It’s a confidence based sport yes but I get the impression that many desperate for a homegrown golden boy to beat the Brazilian champ and- therefore the massive double standard.

Funny, most of thefolks here just love Chael’s routine. I don’t, however my comments get removed – not for bad language, not for bashing anyone, don’t know why?!
I love Sonnen!! This guy talks so much, but at least he brings it. He can talk all he wants for all I care, I don’t mind the trash talkers if they actually back it up win or lose. But to that, he can say as much as he wants about Anderson Silva, but fact is he lost. And until his hand is raised at the end of the night Anderson is still the best.
I’ve come to like Chael a lot in recent months but it’s not so much about the media attention he goes out of his way to acquire. His overall attitude carries over into the octagon itself extremely well and that cannot be said about most of your hardcore sh!t talkers. He actually delivers on what he rambles on and on about, between that and his in-cage work ethic he is very impressive and one of my favorite fighters currently.
Gotta respect his last performance in the Octagon. The other stuff, not so much.

Funny as that sh!t is, Sonnen on his best day couldn’t pull the females that GSP leaves standing at the bar with those sad, gently rejected looks on their faces…

I guess Chael Sonnen is the latest poster boy for, “it’s not sh!t-talking when you back [most] of it up”, and “the closed mouth doesn’t get fed”.
At this point in his career Sonnen is equal parts show promoter and 185 fighter, and he’ll continue in that de facto dual role for as long as he draws money and continues to rehab Anderson Silva’s previously tarnished image.
Also consider the front office help that Sonnen is getting.
Suddenly after spending months and months in Dana White’s doghouse, Anderson Silva was once again shamelessly p!mped at UFN 22 by DW’s carnival barkers Goldberg and Rogan as the best p4p fighter in the world.
Whats changed since Silva stopped being billed that way?
Chael Sonnen, thats what.
Hopefully Silva and Soares send a little something Sonnen’s way for the quality job he’s done getting fans to like Silva again.

Previously I’ve taken Brock Lesnar to task for poor sportsmanship in interviews, and he’s proven every detractor wrong by beating the best HWs in the UFC.
About a year too late Sherdog and whoever else imagined themselves in a position of MMA importance FINALLY realized that Lesnar is in fact the best HW in the world, as much as it pains me to post it.
Sonnen is taking a similiar tack of first bring the noise, and then bring the pain, and it almost worked.
Plus he makes sure most if not all of us, and whatever converts he makes from now until Silva-Sonnen 2, opt in for the show.
He roughed up Anderson Silva for 23 minutes, and made good on almost all of his noise.
For me its hard to like a guy that talks that much sh!t, but its also hard for me not to like a guy that exposes Anderson Silva as just another fighter, albeit an extremely talented one, and not the demigod of the sport that both Dana White and Ed Soares have made him out to be over the last few years…

Chael Sonnen should really consider stand-up if he loses the rematch! GSP would ownhim all day though. GSP via armbar rd 3!
At first I Hated Hated this guy! But after listening to his interviews you realize that most of what Chael sayz is an ACT!!! He talks smack and trash because he realizes that it gathers him attention he wants and truth to be told HE IS BETTER AT TRASH TALK then the Josh Kos’es Hughes’es Hardy’es even Tito! He realizes its gonna be a way to get more Money in the end. Truth to be told I BET Chael doesn’t believe HALF of the Trash he spews out, but many FANS DO! And these are the ones who claim they would never buy another A. Silva fight ready to do but here they are doing it again, same fans who claim they dislike a fighter who disrespects other fighters but “its OK if Chael disrespects EVERYBODY” as long as he almost beats A. Silva!??!?!?!?!
I saw in an interview of Chael after the Silva fight how he said he was a HUGE A. Silva fan but for the fight it was his job as a fighter to fight and he is in the UFC to be the best and in order to do that he had to beat the BEST! {A. SILVA}. So even he acknowledges A. Silva is the best! Lets be real A. Silva has the MOST CONSECTIVE WINS IN THE UFC.!! THE UFC… THE SUPERBOWL OF MMA……THE UFC WE ALL HERE RANT AND RAVE AS THE BEST ORGANIZATION TO WHICH ALL MMA FIGHTER STRIVE TO BE IN TO FIGHT THE BEST!!!{The BEST}
Yet when a Champion wins the most consecitive wins and destroys most of his opponents and finds a way to RETAIN HIS BELT in the best org. in world !! Some so called/suppossed fans consider him a lucky or fraud a fake or dislike the man. Hey I get it if you just dont like him but dont try to imply or insinuitate the guy aint the real deal or have double standards when it comes to what you want as a champion!
Chael is a funny entertaing guy who has found popularity by an anvenue of talking pure SH!!!! Good for him, I wont knock the guy or discredit the guy for his accomplishments (HE made me a believer when he beat Okami and Marquart) back to back) anybody cable of that has some serious skill! But c’mon dont knock A. Silva for all he has done in the UFC!

Nice points true1. I’m not a fan of Silva at all but I love watching him fight and I think he’s the most talented guy doing it hands down and in the whole world.(Although GSP is imo the only person whos even in the same universe as him) You’ll never hear me pointing specific things out about Anderson and saying he sucks cuz of this or that. I’m glad your calling some of these guys out who have a blatant double standard and love to rag on a legend just to be ragging. He11 maybe some of them are on on the rag themselves while they’re doing it. :D The only issue I take with your post is saying that because I dislike Silva and usually root for the other guy this makes me a “supposed” fan. I eat, breathe and sh!t MMA every single day so I’m living proof that that staement doesn’t hold up as well as the rest of your insightful post.
Lets hope Anderson makes weight for the next fight. If history proves itself, Chael will win just like he did against Filho the second time around after tapping the first.
Silva missing weight? What part of left field did that come out of? Anderson has never missed weight in his lengthy career and to my knowledge and research he hasn’t ever had an issue with making the cut. He’s one the leanest guys in the fight game and his metabolism is probably light years ahead of most athletes. Just wondering if I’m missing something here?
