i think Konrad might be more boring than Fitch.. by alot…
lol
@RussoC13 keep in mind this is a tournemant format and that his last fight was less than a month ago. Tournemants are about surviving to the next round when you’re a wrestler. Plus the guy has already fought as many times as Fitch, Kos, and GSP have combined this year in his first year fighting. He’s shown improvement from fight to fight and worked for multiple submissions through out the second. Give him some time.
Plus, Grabowski wasn’t helping the excitement by locking up 50-50 guard and showing the takedown defense of a third grader.
Sharp point…
I’m with Chris on this one. Konrad was doing a lot, and possbily could have done more without a few ill-advised stand ups. The lack of elbows to the head during Bellator tournament fights really hampered Konrad tonight. If he were allowed to elbow Grabowski in the head, then that fight might have been over in the first, as Warren predicted.
i get what your saying but wouldnt you think under a tournament format you would want to finish your opponnent as quickly as possible, therefore you dont burn up all your energy in the first 2 fights.. maybe im wrong though, Joe Warren just won the title, and he wasnt all that entertaining in the tourney..
i cant help but think with all that weight that these past 6 rounds have kinda drained him a bit.. Grove has finished both of his fights without even breaking a sweat.. im thinking Grove is going to be alot more fresh than Konrad for their title fight
@RussoC13 it would be great to finish all you fights earlier in a tournemant but keep in mind that Grove has been training and fighting 4x as long as Konrad. He struck a little bit last night and tried to work for multiple submissions but was unable to finish any of them. However, getting into a striking match with a guy whose got one punch KO power or getting careless on the ground whose won more than half of his matches by submission is a little reckless. Grabowski had finished 12 of his 13 wins so expecting him to rush is a little careless.
Konrad was an ’05 Pan Am champ and 3rd place finisher at the University Worlds in freestyle. This just adds to being a 2x NCAA champ at Minnesota where he broke a few of Brock’s records. He just started training MMA last year and his first ever fight was in January. Training with Brock and the rest of the Minnesota MMA crew will turn the guy into a monster but it is going to take some time.
Also while we’re on the subject of the length of time he’s out there… wrestlers are more used to going long periods of time out there. Most heavy weight matches go the distance in college and by going the distance I mean 11 minutes of grappling which even with the periods is one of the most exhausting things in the world to do.
Glad to see Matt Major lose again, bummed about Mamalis, and I think Grove v. Konrad might be interesting, or it might not.
i just saw a pic on bellators website cuz i was sleepin before goin to work over nights so i missed most of the fights but did mamalis have ringworm? heres the link to the pic if its allowed

That looks too intricate for ringworm. I could be wrong, though.
That is interesting, hopefully not ringworm. Kinda looks like it might be a scar. I hope it’s not something contagious, whatever it is.
That’s not ringworm at all, ringworm would still have discoloration in the center and that’s too perfect for ringworm. Furthermore, athletes are checked for ringworm in the weigh-in physical and if there is a live infection they are disqualified. It’s the same as in wrestling, if you have it you must see a dermatologist and have him sign off on it otherwise a ref can disqualify you for it. Most ringworm never gets that big anyways.
Fighters are checked for Staph, too, but that didn’t stop Matt Hamill from fighting with it.
Staph is different though. You can have a note for acne and that will be enough to make a doctor look past staph. Another thing about Staph is that if you’re taking antibitotics you’re techincally considered ok to fight… until you realize that either A) the lethargy and side effects of antibiotics aren’t condusive to fighting or B) you find out normal antibiotics are useless because you have the mother of all Staph (MRSA).
With ringworm it’s a simple topical treatment that once noticed doesn’t take long to treat if you bathe and use anti-fungal cream(which can be anything from athletes foot cream to vagisil).
Matt wasn’t taking antibiotics, he told us after the fight.
@huertarogerhuerta – dude, please, you got to warn a brother before he clicks on that link.
I was drinking my morning-ish cafe con leches, and then ack…
;)
Oh @justin don’t be so naive my friend ;)
Pre-fight:
Dr: Mr. Hamil are you taking the antibiotics Dr. (insert name) issued you for this?
Hamil: Everyday as ordered
Dr: well it’s doesn’t feel any warmer than usual but you have been cutting weight, good to go…
Post-Fight:
Hamil: I didn’t take my antibiotics…
Dr: Well time for me to get the resume out…
