UFC Fight Night 12: Mike Swick vs. Josh Burkman
Mike Swick is expected to make his welterweight debut at UFC Fight Night 12 against Josh Burkman according to MMA Mania. Though the official bout agreements have not been signed, partially because a venue and location haven’t been finalized, they are reporting it is a “done deal”.
The site is also reporting the the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is likely to host the event.
Swick (10-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) could become a force at 170 after losing just one bout in the UFC’s middleweight division. Though moving from the UFC’s weakest division to one of its deepest could delay a potential title shot Swick has had impressive showings in the octagon including victories first round wins over his first four opponents. He holds wins over Alex Schoenauer, Gideon Ray, Steve Vigneault, Joe Riggs, and David Loiseau with his lone UFC loss a unanimous decision defeat by Yushin Okami.
Burkman (9-4 MMA, 5-2 UFC) has had an up-and-down ride in the UFC. After victories over Sam Morgan and Drew Fickett “The People’s Warrior” was defeated by up-and-comer Jon Fitch. He bounced back from the loss with another series of back-to-back wins over Josh Neer and Chad Reiner. He was unable to win a bout earlier this year against welterweight contender Karo Parisyan but was victorious over Forrest Petz at UFC 77 in October.

I am looking forward to this fight for sure! This is an interesting match up; I think Swich will win by decision.

Somebody is getting KTFO! Probablly Burkman, but you just can’t tell.
Yeah, I say Swick by first round KO, like the Swick of old. Oh, how I’ve missed him. Should be a good fight either way.

I like the match-up. It is a decent test for Swick to see where he stands at 170. I expect nothing less than a KO from Mike. A win by Burkman would be his biggest in the UFC (following losses to Parisyan & Fitch).
Burkman will bring his A game and so will Swick; only thing is Swick’s A game is better and this is why I think Swick will win this fight.
