The Bellator 31 fight card is now complete, as former UFC heavyweight champ Ricco Rodriguez will look for his 10th-straight win when he takes on Sengoku and EliteXC vet Dave Herman at the September 30 event in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Bellator 31 also include the debut of UFC veteran Yoshiyuki Yoshida vs. Chris Lozano and women’s tournament semis Megumi Fujii vs. Lisa Ward and Zoila Frausto vs. Jessica Aguilar.

yes, i hope the next stop for ricco is the ufc or sf.
unfortunately I’ll believe this fight when the cage closes due to Herman’s legal battles
One of the good things about being an older MMA fan is that I can actually remember when Ricco Rodriguez wasn’t the punchline to a bad MMA joke, and was considered one of the sport’s best big men.
I know this is a big if, but IF RR can get himself all the way back, I’m thinking that maybe Dana White, a guy who is all about second chances, would give him a opportunity.
You’ll need to hit up one of those magic 8 balls to determine if Dave Herman is actually going to fight or not, but if RR can make some noise in Bellator against decent opposition, he might find himself back in the big show by this time next year.
And if you’re surprised to read this from a former RR detractor like me, just trying imagining how surprised I was ti find myself typing it…
