UFC 124, Georges St-Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck 2 Headed to Montreal on December 11
UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre will rematch Josh Koscheck on his home turf, as The Ultimate Fighter 12 coaches will square off on December 11 at Montreal’s Bell Centre in the main event of UFC 124, UFC President Dana White today confirmed with MMA Fighting.
St-Pierre (20-2) defended the 170-pound title over Dan Hardy in March for his seventh-straight win, while Koscheck (15-4) topped Paul Daley in May to earn a shot at the belt after winning for of his last 5 fights.
The UFC 124 fight card, which takes place one week after The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale, was previously expected for Las Vegas after originally being rumored for Toronto or Pittsburgh, which is now expected to host a January event.

Kos is screwed
If Kos wasn’t screwed before, he definitely is now! Hopefully GSP can shut him up once and for all.
he got to fight serra at home for the rematch and serra beat him. if kos cant even beat alves. and fitch dominates him. wats up!! kos should of had to beat paulo thiago or alves before he got a rematch of any sort with gsp. he clearly got beat by all 3 fighters.
glassman,
i think you’re a little confused bro. GSP rematched Serra in Canada and tko’d him in the second round. Serra lost that fight.
Montreal, Las Vegas, the bahamas, bora bora, tokyo it doesn’t matter, gsp is going to whoop on koscheck wherever the fight takes place. I mean that geographically AND in the cage :)
what are you talking about??? thats what i was talking about “he got to fight serra at home for the rematch and serra beeat him” thats what i was stating that they made serra fight in canada and he won the first fight. gsp aint going to fight in pitt. that would be the only place, besides maybe kos california gym that he would get boos. not going to happen!!! gsp would never fight there and have everyone cheering for the other guy.
and your second paragraph only makes my second point, and that is that kos doesnt even belong in a titlematch. and definately not against someone who he already lost to.
i have always said kos and alves are both overrated and the order still goes.
1.gsp
2.fitch
3.hughes
4.shields [3 through 5 can be switched around how you like]
5.kampmann
6.paulo thiago
7.alves
8.kos
this is only ufc, because nick diaz would be on that list!!!!
I don’t think this guy has very good grammar. It should read “Serra beat him in their first match and GSP received the rematch in Canada” just to CLEAR things up.
@Glassman, GSP doesnt get to choose where he fights and doesnt even really get to choose who he fights. Just saying.
It’s obvious that he meant that GSP got to fight Serra in Canada…besides, Serra can’t fight at home because MMA is still banned in New York.
Koscheck and Fitch have never and will never fight, so how can you say he got dominated by him?
i was saying that alves won every round against kos, but FITCH DOMINATED alves. so who should be getting the shot??? sorry it was unclear. i was saying kos should have to beat alves, thiago or even fitch before he got a shot. but i also did know that kos and fitch wont fight ever.
hughes is ranked 3? You have to be joking
LOL…he must be joking!
Before Hughes choked out Almeida, I wouldn’t have put him anywhere near the top 5 but that was the most impressive he’s looked in a long while. He may be making a push.
just because hughes got caught with a knee, doesnt make him bad. he has been in every fight. and his win per. is still great!!
yes the greatest ww is by far gsp. but almedia is huge!! did you see him on sat. night. he is like the nate m. of the ww div. i also would like to see hughes fight alves again. i think the fight would be way different. if it went into the 3rd round hughes has way better conditioning. and i think it would be way different if alves actually had to come in on weight. instead of 176.5.
anyway even if alves could beat him again.hughes CAN beat OR ATLEAST HANG WITH anyone except gsp. and again I need to see how good shields really is before i truly set 3-5 places. because i think shields is really good, but i also think that hendo did not take that fight very serious. some say he was hurt.
no matter what as long as hughes is still fighting contenders and still winning most of his fights. i will have him ion the top5 . you guys are acting like he is losing like chuck, or fighting stupid fights like randy. he is got a real champions record!!
@gunslinger – I also think that maybe Hughes went thru a bit of a burn-out period.
He got caught by Alves, and was probably thinking, “after 40+ fights, I don’t need this sh!t, getting caught by a guy who couldn’t even make weight”.
Remember, we’re talking Matt Hughes here.
After some reconsideration, and a few fights with more relatable opponents, Hughes seems to be once again interested in making the 170 glory and gold run.
Consider that Ricardo Alemida is no joke, and Hughes handled him with authority.
Another win over someone like Paulo Thiago, or a win in a rematch with Alves, and Hughes is going to ask for a title shot, or at the very least a title contenders fight.
And he’s more likely than not going to get it…
Matt hughes should fight fitch. Fitch uses his wrestling to grind out a win against his opponents. I dont think fitvh can out wrrestle matt for three rounds.
i think gsp will put on another wrestling clinic on kos the wrestler. the only thing that saved kos from being submited in that fight is the loophole in the rules where you are not allowed to hold your opponents clothing, but you can hold your own
Fitch has to be excited. He wont have to fight a teammate, cause Kos is through!!
Kos is definitely hosed on this one, I agree with everyone on this. Unfortunately I think this fight will end in a decision. I’d like to see GSP finish a fight for a change. They should throw Edgar vs Maynard on this christmas card to, since that fight has no chance of great ppv numbers without a huge undercard.
Is Toronto hosting a UFC event in January without GSP or are they going to wait until St-Pierre’s next fight in 2011, probably in spring? That would be nice if he got to fight at both of those Canadian events. Wish him the best.
I actually prefer that he defends his title against shields vs kampann winner somewhere near california so I can finally see him live!
But if he did go to TO at the Rogers Stadium that would be insane for the canadian fans!
ufc is gonna be in toronto in march of 2011, so if gsp comes out of this fight with no serious injuries , then he can fight the winner of shields/kampman in toronto
Dang Canadian’s need to learn how to share. G.S.P. is our (U.S.) boy too!
That would be a great fight also. I’m fine with the winner of Shields vs. Kampman, but a fight with Fitch would be good too. If GSP gets hurt during his bout with KOS and still wins, than I think the winner of the Shields vs. Kampman should fight Fitch and the winner of that would get the next title shot.
we do share our homeboy GSP like the dan hardy fight, but GSP is like the number on attraction in canada and ufc would make way more money to have GSP fighting in canada
I think people are still trying to contest MMA in Toronto which is weird toronto will do anything for more money, But if it stays accepted they wont wait for gsp next fight.
gsp/kos vs shields/kampmann in cleveland,OH !
wooo, cleveland. i think i still prefer the views on tv over the view in an arena
I agree with what most people are saying, Los is in trouble come December. Unless kos connects with a lucky strike, GSP is gonna destroy him. I am kind of tired though of hearing people rag on Georges for not finishing fights. If you think of his last few opponents they are extremely tough guys, considered among the best in the ww division, almost anyone would have tapped to either of the 2 subs he had on Hardy, who seemed to be made of rubber. Both alves and fitch are crazy tough guys, bj gave up in the 4th because of the beating he gave him. The Serra rematch was kinda embarrassing, I don’t expect anyone thinks he’ll every fight GSP again. And Hughes, well look what he did to the guy most people thought was the most dominant ww of all time the last 2 times they fought. I won’t go on, I think Iade my point, but always interested in other opinions.
Kos not Los.
Im still waiting on Serra-GSP 3
that would be total domination by GSP, GSP in on a whole new level compared to matt serra
ha, if Serra can beat the best of the ww disivion then best of luck to him against GSP in a third matchup. hahaha.
i just have a question is this the year end card? or are they having another ppv at the end of the month?
because if they are going to have a few more “big” fights on this card ill be at the bell centre for 3 events in a row
hell they dont even have to be “big” fights i just wanna see this card!! am i ever excited
glassman like your point about koshchek and alves that they are overated i agree,i think this fight pierre vs koshckek is a match what shouldnt happen think pierre beats all them in the list but we have to see how good jake shields is has hes the only one i think could beat pierre or give them his hardest challenge.
GSP vs shields would be awesome, we wold finally get to see GSP showcasing his standup skillz
i think gps would still use his wrestling. dont forget hes put on clinics with much more decorated wrestlers then himself. while i do think he will use more standup in that fight, he will put it on the ground at some point if he fights shields
for sure GSP is gonna mix it up, he does that best
Being the best MMA fighter on the planet has its perks.
Fighting “at home” is one of them…
;)
Kos = Cheater
Citation needed or patented dbiz Troll Tramp Stamp will be applied.
Any proof. Or do u just hate on kos. Im gonna go with the second one
I don’t like Koscheck’s hair, I think he would look loads nicer with a shaved head.
thats why dan hardy call him cotton candy because of his hair LOL
Interesting read from all opinions. Yeah kos is guna be out classed come december. Kos thinks he’s improved enough, but he really doesn’t know how much Gsp has improved, even since his Hardy fight. Gsp was very disapointed in himself and he knows Dana wasn’t overly pleased. He knows people are talking about how boring his last fights have been. Looking back at the last Serra fight, the last 2 Hughs fights, Fitch fight and some others where he masacured them, is what his fans want to see from him again, and he is fully aware of this. This is what your going to see against Kos. It’s going to look alot like his fight against Fitch. And Kos is finnally guna be shut up and embarased. He’s going to make Kos’s boxing look amature.I think he will finish this fight. It will be a tko stoppage.
