I honestly thought that Dana White and Joe Silva would try and get one more “upscale” fight onto this card.
Maybe, just maybe those earlier detractors might’ve had a point…

Was hoping britain were going to get a big UFC fight this time not Bisping again headlining. There s not even a title fight or No.1 contender fight happening. When the Ufc goes to canada they dont just use canadian fighters and when in america they dont just use fighters from that state only so why does britian keep getting second scale events with british fighters. Am i right in saying as well this event is free in america to watch and not the regular pay per view, well if thats the case then i feel those guys should feel let down by this card as well. So much for Dana saying after Abu Dhabi that there would be a big free event for people to watch. Really dissapointed by this card

No, they don’t use all fighters from a given state or country, but you can bet yoru ass that any UFC event in Ohio features Rich Franklin and probably Matt Brown.

Any UFC event in Montreal with feature GSP and David Loiseau (if he is still in the UFC) and/or Patrick Cote.

Look at the Indianapolis event. Prominent fighter: Chris Lytle, UFC fighter and Indianapolis firefighter.

Abu Dhabi: Renzo Gracie, pretty much an honorary resident.

They do it just about everywhere they go. The problem the Brits face is that a lot of fighters DON’T WANT TO ADJUST TO A 5 HOUR DIFFERENCE in addition to fighting. They just don’t. And the UFC can’t force them to.

So what do you get? You get solid fights from a lot of local fighters. You guys want title fights and #1 contender fights? Get a champion or #1 (or #2 or #3) contender. It’s a pretty simple formula.

And given that it’s only a five hour time difference, you can’t do a whole lot to adjust the start time of the event so you can get lots of PPV buys in America. Abu Dhabi was something like 12 hours ahead (all reference times Eastern). Australia something like 17 or 18. In those cases, you can adjust the start time of the event in its location to maximize the buys in America. However, a normal 10pm start here means it’s 3am in Britain and you’re not likely to get either lively events or a lively crowd by the end of it.

I hope Paul Sass does well.
He won his first 7 fights via triangle! He has since decided to change things a bit and won the next 2 of 3 fights via heel hook ;)

I am hoping for a crazy sub either way!

I hope a couple fights are quick because I want to see Cyrille Diabate fight… this guy is going to be a big name soon enough… he could challenge for a belt in a couple yrs… IMO

  • Japes78 says:

This is one situation where the “Co-headliner” is actually an equal calibre fight to the Headliner.

  • taff1 says:

    Cheers for your opinion dbiz

  • Brian K says:

I gotta tell you all the truth, how the Hell can Dana or Joe even consider Bisping being a headliner, the guys a total tool thats never beaten a top tier fighter, he’s lost 2 of his last 3 fights etc..
This is not just a dissapointing card all together but I wouldnt even classify this as a descent UFN card.
Bisping needs to be cut, I think Hardy coming off of a Loss to GSP still desrves a main card fight, I think thats gonna be a good fight but I see Condit pulling it out via Choke of some kind
