Strikeforce heavyweight Daniel Cormier and former UFC lightweight Josh Neer were victorious in weekend bouts.
Cormier, who fights Jason Riley on the undercard of “Strikeforce: Houston” on August 21, submitted Tony Johnson in the opening round with a rear naked choke to win the heavyweight title at Friday’s “King of the Cage: Imminent Danger” in New Mexico.
Neer forced Strikeforce fight Jesse Finney to tap to an opening-round guillotine in the main event of Fight Me MMA’s debut event in Missouri to improve to 3-1 since leaving the UFC in October.

good on neer… i hope to see him come back to the ufc… i dont think he deserved to be cut… always had exciting fights
Neer’s arrest and 2-3 record in his UFC return didn’t exactly make him a great investment. Hopefully, he stays straight and will be back.
i dont agree with cutting a figher based soley on there win/loss record…
for example… lets say i get into the ufc, i fight a bunch of times and get a 6-2 record… then because of my fairly good success i fight some top tier opponents and lose 2/3 but put on blood baths that kept people on there seat and made a great showing of it… now my record would be say 7-4… should i be cut?its not like i put on boring fights…
thats why i didnt like the neer cut… he always put on good fights… i dont remember a neer fight that i didnt enjoy
it wasn’t just his win loss record his arrest was pretty serious
Not sure I like Cormier fighting so close to another fight but I am glad that he won!
what did neer get arrested for?
operating a vehicle while intoxicated, hit and run, eluding police, reckless driving and other offenses.
oh so he basically pulled a “rampage”
it was a little more severe than Rampage since Neer:
1) has a history of OWIs
2)Rampage was not under the influence
3)Rampage suffered a psychotic break, which is looked at a little bit differently than a substance abuse issue
