That’s a good news years card. I like.

  • scotchydow says:

So are the first 5 schedueled to air???

  • Those are my best guess as to what matches they will choose to show. The first three are for sure but the other two are quesses until they’re all announced officially by the UFC.

What ever happened with Dan Henderson being added to the UFC 79 card? Any knowledge of upcoming fights for him?

  • Red says:

This card is very good. Hopefully the fights live up to the hype and also I hope that it is a classic card that people talk about for a while.

this card is going to own…
Picks (laugh if you want, but i’ve got my reasons for my picks)

    Matt Serra DEF. Matt Hughes
Round 3, submission, probably rear naked choke

    Chuck Liddell DEF. Wanderlei Silva
    Round 2, Knock out

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou DEF. Lyoto Machida
    Round 1 TKO

    Manny Gamburyan DEF. Nate Mohr
    Descision

    Melvin Guillard DEF. Rich Clementi
    Round 2, TKO

    Tony DeSouza DEF. Roan Carneiro
    Descision

    Dean Lister DEF. Jordan Radev
Round 1, some arm lock (kimora or straight arm bar)

The other two fights i have not researched at all.

more to the point. i think this is going to be an outstanding card… i love it.

Zero, I agree with everything except the MAJORS…. Wanderlei is going to dismantel Liddell. No doubt in my mind. I also believe that Matt Serra has been thinking too much about beating Hughes. I think he will get in there and loose all focus. Matt Hughes will slam him, mount him, and then pound him out. Sorry, my OPINION….

  • holy_dave says:

I think I want Matt Serra to win so bad that it is affecting my predictions. Well, I say Serra by TKO, round 2, similar to GSP.

I do believe Silva will beat Liddell, but not very desisively. I think he’s just more pumped for his first fight in the UFC in 10 years or however long. Unanimous decision.

Alexander, round 1, KO, it’s just to hard to pick against that dude right now.

Manny by ground and pound, round 2. Melvin by round 1 KO.

    Coneiro by decision.

    That’s all I got. We’ll see.

zero…i disagree with the big fights. hughes, wandy and machida i think will take the w’s. hughes will be in far better shape and much more prepared then his last 4 or 5 fights(which he only lost one to gsp) serra is a danerous fighter but hughes has to much riding on this fight. the chance to retire either a ww champ or a mw champ. wandy is training with the best camp in america and still learning and adding new skills to his already dangerous fight game. chuck will be the same chuck and he’ll find himself in trouble with yet another top stiker. machida is some what of a defensive fighter and will wait untill soku comes after him which he will. i look for machida to pick soku apart with his counter punching. this fight could go either way, i just think machida is a little more experienced if not in mma then fore sure in the ufc octagon. machida should get his respect after this fight.

  • scotchydow says:

I am impressed with Machida, but Sokoujou is a monster. The guys hands and legs are fast and lethal! And he trains at Quest with Hendo and Lindland, so his ground game has to be top notch (just don’t know if we will ever see it) This guy will be a serious threat to Rampage in the near future. I would really like to see the winner of this fight face the winner of Houston Alexander/Thiago Silva. Machida is one of the best at countering attacks, but I just don’t think that will be enough to stop Sokou.

  • Vampslayr says:

zero – I agree with most of your picks, although I like Wandy over Chuck

Clementi left a bad taste in my mouth during his tenure on TUF, so I’ll be pulling for Guillard. I like Manny to win and hopefully get a rematch with Nate Diaz, perhaps headlining a Fight Night early in 2008.

Sokoujou vs Machida is being greatly overshadowed by the co-main events, but I think it could be the match of the night. I’ll take Sokoujou in the 3rd round via TKO

  • Mathew says:

well now that serra is out this card lost alot of its luster

  • Vampslayr says:

We’ll see what Dana does to counter the loss of his main event.
