Roger Huerta Beats Down Woman-Puncher in Street Fight

UFC veteran and current Bellator lightweight Roger Huerta beat down a man during a weekend street fight in Austin, Texas after the man sucker punched a woman during a scuffle.
In a video released by TMZ, Huerta confronts the man for knocking the woman down with a punch to the head and ends with Huerta leaving the man beaten on the ground.
No charges have been filed.

Nothing good ever happens outside a club at 2:00 AM. Hopefully Roger won’t get in trouble with the law.

Couple issues that could land Roger in some hot water:
#1 It looked like the guy took off running and Roger chased after him.
#2 When the person filming comes around the crowd, it appears Roger is delivering a massive head stomp. Not good.
Mad props to Roger for beating this POS down and hope no assault charges will be filed.
I don’t think the guy was trying to run away at first. The video is kind of shaky, but it looks like the guy initiates with Huerta then takes a swing at another guy that comes running after him and just misses. I think that there was 2-3 other guys off camera that went after that guy after finding out he clocked that girl (one of which was throwing a spaz as the guy was getting medical aid)
That being said, that stomp was lethal. I don’t have pity for the guy, but Huerta has to be smarter. People have been killed or perma-brain damaged from much lighter hits. It would be a Sh***y was to throw away his career and/or life imo.
Couldn’t get a real good look, the camera guy needs lessons in filming in landscape and not portrait. Couldn’t really tell the chase part, but the head stomp was pretty clear.
Roger should have known better and if Mazzagatti would have been there, would have been stopped well before the head stomp.
If you look at the video you notice that Roger has his shirt off when he chases the guy down. The person who stomps on the guy has a shirt on. I believe the guy who actually stomps on the guy is the one they are pulling away after, not Roger. It appears that Roger did knock this guy out (deserved) but that someone else did the stomp, unless Roger knocked the guy out then found his shirt and put it on before the camera guy runs up to the scene.
My husband and I have watched this video many times and while it’s sometimes difficult to see….Roger had his shirt off when he went after the guy. The dude who stomped on the guy’s head had a shirt on. I think Roger knocked the guy out and others stepped in after. Maybe it wasn’t Roger who stepped on the guy’s head. Do you really think he stopped and put a shirt back on? Just a thought…..
And I say….Bravo, Roger!!! The guy deserved to get knocked out for slugging a woman!

All jokes aside, I just hope he doesn’t get assault with a deadly weapon. As he is a professional fighter he is considered a deadly weapon. But hopfully the PR will make him look like a hero saving a girl than a bar fight. Anyone know if he took that chick home with him?

You find a friend who has a VERY understanding female and that owes you a solid. Or money. Or both.
You then proceed, after clueing in said friend and his female to the situation and revenge plan, to tell everyone in your jobplace, neighborhood, network, social or otherwise, etc, that the cheating chick gave your boy the clap because she’s a dirty bird, and thats why YOU’RE dumping HER, as opposed to illegally assaulting her in a public place.
So now you’ve got her on record as cheating with 2 guys, not just one, so her slag factor catches an unwanted-bump.
You also look like a superhero for forgiving your boy [who in reality did nothing wrong], because hey, bro’s before h0′s and all that. This also works well for your boy if you seed the idea that HE came to YOU and confessed the dirty deed afterwards.
And now the cheating chick is REALLY a cheating chick, and better yet, she’s a disease-spreading cheating chick.

Roger should be put in jail for attempted murder. He is not a cop, a judge or a jury. The guy was wrong to hit a girl but Roger is just as bad as that guy he hit.
I strongly disagree with you saying that Roger should be put in jail (I’m assuming you aren’t a judge either), if I saw some cat sucker punch a chick I too would confront him, it is a low person to sucker punch a woman and simply put in my personal opinion his ass whooping was deserved.. Furthermore it do look like the large guy who sucker punched a woman engaged with Huerta, looks like big boy got whooped by a 55er, never hit a woman ever….
The headstomp is what will land him in hot water if anything does. When a guy is turtled, obviously beaten, and you deliver a blow meant to do permanent damage you have also crossed the line, regardless of what the other person did.

yeah, it takes a real man of moral character and intestinal fortitude to hit a 100 pound woman in stilleto heels as hard as possible from a position of realtive safety. Even though Roger will more than likely get in trouble from the oh-so-brave manly man or the lawyers who are probably circling as we type – At least he stepped up to defend the helpless while everyone else just stood around and filmed the event. I wonder how that guy would react if that was his sister, mother, girlfriend or wife and the situation was reversed? I am a Roger Huerta fan now!
What Roger did was what MEN are supposed to do. We need more MEN like that in our country and then maybe we wouldn’t have a**holes doing these types of things to women.

The biggest issue with Huerta is not if he did the correct thing (I believe he did) its that he is a professional fighter and there for it is documented that he is a trained fighter… In California that does not bode well for him when it comes to legal issues, also most judges would view the tape and find this “justifiable” we are kinda lax on things such as handing out a major ass whooping for sucker punching a female…
fr702; before I comment here, let me preface it with the fact I have mad respect for you and this site. I find most of your posts insightful and have always pretty much agreed with your points of view on topics.
That being said, how can you say that stomping a guys face into the concrete after he is already knocked out (no matter what he did)is “the correct thing”. I’m all for the fact the guy took a beating, and IMO justice was already served when he was lying there knocked out. That kind of stomp on concrete can kill someone – easily. If the guy hadn’t have gotten up, or if he had died later because he was bleeding from his brain – would you still have that same point of view?
But, as has been stated, I’m not 100% sure that Roger actually did the head stomping. It looks like it might have been the dude being held back at the end of the video.
If you listen to the narrative on the video, at 1:55 he says “the guy he got up on was a UFC fighter, the UFC fighter just f’in knocked him out.”
All i saw on that video is the pos asshole take five swings at Rodger first. Hopefully that is what everyone else saw. Huerta if u read these boards where can i cut u a check to help with ur defense.

It’s disorderly conduct, not felony assault. Plus, you mean felony battery, which would be aggrevated battery. Battery involves physical contact, assault implies threat of force. So I suggest that we are not the idiots. And you could at least try to offer an argument instead of resorting to name calling.
If you watch closely, right after his buddy yells out “Roger” and the camera pans, you see roger w/ his shirt off and the thug in his wife beater in a standoff. Suddenly, a guy in a gray shirt jumps into the foray and takes a swing at the thug. Later, when the cameraman gives chase, you catch a glimpse of a guy stomping on the thug’s head. During the slo-mo, you can tell it is the guy in the gray shirt that is stomping his head into the ground. The guy clearly got what he deserved, but it wasn’t Huerta that gave him an extra head stomp.
in freeze frame shots, the guy stomping has the same tatooed shoulder/back as roger. as much as i hope that it doesnt incriminate him, it does indeed appear to be him.
I watched the video again a few times and I’m fairly positive it was a shirtless Huerta with tattoos showing who did the stomp. I did see the guy in the gray shirt still trying to get at the woman beater when he was down lying in his own blood (Maybe gray shirt dude was the girl who got hit’s boyfriend)

Two wrongs don’t make a right!!!! The way the guy hit the woman was COMPLTELY wrong..I am not a man that will say you should never hit a woman, especially some of the killing women are coming up now, but a man should never sucker punch a woman like this dude. As for Roger, why risk your life in a situation when you can point out the perp and let the law handle it from there. Although he might have come out as a hero this time, there are too many situation when MMA, UFC and Supermen have come out on the wrong end of a bullet. Once the dude tried to run off, the danger to the woman was clearly over. It is hard for me to see where he was defending the woman versus getting caught up in a street brawl…Very nice comments on this site folks

Even if Roger gets fined the big black dude is going to get the worst of it. He hit a lady and only started to run after he knew he was over his head with Roger, and he is going to get Prison Justice when he goes to the clink. Not a good day for him. We just need the surport form the community and the girl’s family that was hit behind the head. Maybe she was in fear of her life. A gaint man that has been drinking hitting a pour girl….. She could of died. There is no telling what he could have did had there not have been a crowd around.

The only thing that will probably come back to haunt Rodger in this case is that he already has a criminal record in Minnesota from a fight just off of the University of Minnesota Campus. I remember some altercation happening outside one of the college bars, and Rodger punched through some dudes car window and struck him in the side of the head. He ended up getting charged with assault with a deadly weapon (his hands) and was put on probation. No joke, they said lethal weapons! The Real World approached him before he officially went UFC to be on the show, but because of the probation, MTv and Rodger were unable to work out a deal with the judge. This previous incident could be really bad for him!
Actually, if Huerta was charged for battery, the prosecuter would not be able to bring up the previous incident unless he could convince the judge it was relevant to the case in a preliminary hearing. I arrested a guy for his fifth DUI, and when it went to court, we were not allowed to mention the fact that this was his fifth one. Sucks, but that’s how most criminal cases go.
I also wasn’t allowed to mention in court that 2 months prior to me arresting this dirt bag for his fifth DUI, we arrested him for aggravated assault. He threatened to kill his wife with a shotgun. It would have helped me show that he was a piece of trash, but it wasn’t relevant to the case.
The legal term for this would be disorderly conduct. It was a mutual fight between two individuals. The issue is that any number of things could have happened between the times when the camera was not catching the action.
How about we petition for a new nickname for Huerta? Roger “Ladies Man” Herta? Or, Roger “Guy who beats dudes who hit girls” Huerta?

And an equally good prosecutor probably could make the case.
It clearly is the guy in the gray shirt that does the headstomp. If you keep replaying it you can see shirtless Huerta for a split second, it looks like he is facing the other way.
The black dude who sucker punched that little girl from behind got every bit the asswhupping he deserved. What a piece of ****. What we need is for more men in society to stand up to these criminal thugs. Give Roger a medal for beating down that thug.

Well props for Roger beating up a guy who is easily 70lbs bigger than he is. I hope no legal matters is taken up. I remember Antoni Hardonk was in the news for kind of the same thing a year ago for beating up a mugger or something. Maybe Roger And Antoni can be mma fighters at day and masked vigilantes at night!
Big picture, Huerta made the right call and did the right thing at that time and place.
Unfortunately in life, no good deed goes unpunished, so we should all stay tuned for the obligatory lawsuit once the chick-punching d-bag realizes he caught a beating from a successful pro MMA fighter…
Heroes should be worshiped not condemned. What Huerta did was something that every single person in that crowd was afraid to do. Stand up for what is right. If Roger didn’t stand up who would?
Thanks to Mr. Huerta, we are treated to a heroic action. Consequences may bound him and put him in Con Air. But Hopefully the aftermath does not deter him from future actions such as this.

Ok everyone look at the video closely Roger didnt do the head stomp. The guy doing the head stomp has a shirt on and right before the head stomp Roger had his shirt off. No way a guy is going to put a shirt back on while running towards someone. That being said Someone should have made the guy bite down on the curb and then stomp his head. Only a coward hits a woman and even being a coward still doesnt make it right. A guy that big hit a chick with closed fist and not even to her face he sucker punched her. The guy had it coming and he is lucky there wasnt 25 people kicking his ass to sleep.

Dawn – that’s exactly right. If Roger had done nothing, not even confront the man, then in all likelihood he goes down in the records as a selfish coward. Headline – ex-ufc fighter watches woman get beaten down and does nothing.
He did the responsible thing (because he’s capable)and confronted the thug. It escalated as these things do. He got the best of it.

In my opinion, Roger Huerta is a hero. That dude was about to walk away after commiting a horrific crime. Huerta stopped him from getting away. Great job!!!
