I love the Fight Nights. They give me my MMA fix in between PPVs. Here in Idaho, we also get this lame Utah public access channel that runs an MMA fighting organization with loose ties to Jeremy Horn. The fights are very amature, but it is a quick fix. They also have this show called “So You Think You Can Fight”. It’s pretty funny. They have high schoolers, and bouncers and such get in a boxing ring for 2, 1 min rounds. Some pretty funny KOs there.

  • Game says:

Yeah i watch those shows, the boxing is ridiculous and really really funny.

  • Vampslayr says:

Nice to see some of the mid to lower ranked fighters get their due. Many of the televised fights are pretty entertaining too.

Does anyone have a favorite Fight Night moment? Mine is definitely seeing Anderson Silva destroy Chris Leben.

    Favorite Fight Fight moments……….
Melvin Gillard getting quickly choked out while he was COKED out by Joe Stevenson. Joe Riggs getting KOed by Diego Sanchez in about 2 minutes. And of course, #1 would be Scott Smith with his rebound KO of Pete Sell.(That was a Fight Night wasn’t it?)

  • FixXeR says:

Said it before…the Sean Salmon karate kid kick against Rashad…..then him getting knocked out haha.

  • Sean says:

I think my favorite fight night moment was also the rebound KO after the devistating rib shot. As for the amatuer boxing in the lower class/amateur MMA it is funny to watch, but then again in all honesty the poor attempt at boxing at the top level of MMA is pretty crappy too.. Its fun to watch but all the looping punches, the dropping of the hands, and the dropping your head when you swing.. A true boxer would have a field day going toe to toe with these guys.. But in the same aspect a true boxer would get his butt handed to im in the clinch or on the ground.

I agree with you scotchydow on Ultimate Fight Night Lives; I enjoy them very much, especially since we don’t have to shell out forty bucks to see the fights. The Sell/Smith fight was on an Ultimate Fighter Finale Undercard and that fight was awesome! I wonder what the main event will be for the January 23rd fight card?

  • eltz says:

well there is rumors mike swick will fight on the card but no 2 face him yet

  • Yep, the post about Swick is coming but he could also be on the UFC 80 card if it is for free on Spike. It’s likely it will be the UFC fight night 12 card but nothing has confirmed this.

  • GIP says:

hopefully they give swick one of the top guys at ww. fitch, kos, sanchez, burkman, are the top ww’s that will be ready to fight. if leben dropped down to ww that also would be a good main event.

  • Vampslayr says:

Swick vs Fitch or Koscheck would be huge. I’ve got it ranked Serra, GSP, Hughes, Karo, Kosch & Fitch. Swick is talented enough to be in that group.

A matchup vs the likes of Cummo, Clementi or Lytle would be disappointing. Let Leben fight these guys (if he were to drop).

  • scotchydow says:

How can you down talk Lytle like that. That guy has pure talent. His fight with Robbie Lawler is one of my favorites. He also took Hughes the distance. I think a fight between Swick and Lytle would be great, and I thin Lytle would win.

  • Vampslayr says:

I never said I didn’t like Chris, because I do. I don’t see him as top 10 in the UFC at 170 right now. I think Thiago beats him, altho I’ll be pulling for Lytle.

I was at UFC 68 and was one of only a hand full (and trust me, it was a small percentage) that cheered Chris start to finish against Hughes.

I’m not sure where Swick will fit in at 170, but in my honest opinion, it’s above Chris Lytle.

To his credit, he takes on tough fights, but he loses them all. Name his biggest victory. Exactly, he’s lost every time to a name opponent.

Here’s hoping that all starts to change this weekend.
