I personally like Evan Tanner but dont really see him being a large threat in the middleweight division. Put him in agaist McDonald and if he wins give him a rematch against Franklin…and if he pulls that off, then give him a title shot.

  • eltz says:

yeah that is awsome atleast they get some talent back at the middle weight divison now lets sign okai and nate 2 some extensions im hoping okami didnt signe with k-1

  • Napoa says:

good comment fixxer i agree… that would be a great to try a get him a title shot. but i doudt he will be able to do that. and even if he did he would never beat silva. i am telling you know anderson silva is going to be the longest raining champion in UFC history the man as won all of his fights with ease i also i think the middelweight division is the weakest division in the UFC. It is gonna take more that Yushin Okami, Jason MacDonald, Evan Tanner, or Rich Franklin to take his title. The only guy that could take his title and i affiliated/signed by the UFC is Dan Henderson and that fight would take years to make probably

  • K H says:

Glad to hear it, Good luck Evan. Even if he doesn’t climb in the rankings, maybe this will get him back on his feet.

  • scotchydow says:

So, do you think it will be Evan Tanner vs. Hendo? That’s a bad idea, because that would take one of their contenders out immediately (assuming Hendo drops to middle) I like Tanner, but I don’t know if he can beat Franklin. Franklin already beat him twice (well) Once at middle, and once at light heavyweight. I think they should make Tito drop in weight. He hasn’t moved very far in the light heavyweight division. Let him take a stab at Silva.

  • er92806 says:

tito!?!…he couldn’t get out of the 1st with silva…tito should stay at 205 but move to wec…might win a strap there cause it’s NEVER happening in the ufc again!

  • FixXeR says:

That would be great Scotchy. I just think that Tito has enough problems making 205 that it and he would not be able to drop that low. I may be wrong but he looks like he walks around at 220. That would be something though!

  • Accomando says:

I read about this somewhere yesterday and couldn’t believe it. Can’t wait to see him return to action.

  • holy_dave says:

Yeah, Tito is a huge 205 guy. No way he could drop to 185. I am personally very happy to see Evan Tanner return to the octagon. Hopefully he will have a good showing. The UFC should bring him back slowly, against a newcomer or someone he should be able to beat and get his confidence back. Good luck to Evan though.

  • micjasbro says:

This is hard to believe, with all the crap he’s been through lately, not having proved that he can clean up and win fights in the lower shows. If this is true, the UFC must be really desperate (and must have a lot of faith in him), to sign him after all he’s been through.

They should definitely not throw him to the wolves his first fight back. I would like to see him eventually get a shot at Silva, but I don’t think getting past Franklin should be the way to prove he is worthy. Just like Franklin will never beat Silva, Tanner will never beat Franklin.

  • belly says:

good to see evan tanner back.the division is weak and he makes it stronger.hes a tough guy and if hes at his best will give anyone a hard fight.

  • Red says:

I agree FixXeR; I don’t see Tanner as a threat in the division, but the guy knows how to fight. At least it gives the Middleweight division some depth and hopefully some good match ups. I think Tanner should fight Leben or Quarry next.

  • Ro-J says:

The ufc should get loiseau back while their at it.

  • Napoa says:

Ro-J i completly agree Loiseau is one of my favourite fighters they guy has crazy game and he went the distance with rich franklin bring him back he could be a threat… maybe?

  • scotchydow says:

Loiseau was amazing when he broke onto the sceen, but something happened after the Franklin fight. He definately hasn’t been the same. I miss him useing his elbows like a knife to slice up opponents faces. I seen him fight in Elite-XC, and he just wasn’t “into” it. He lost his spark somewhere down the line, and I hope he gets it back. I would love to see a rematch with him and Tanner. That was a great fight. Tanner was kicking his ass before Dave sliced him up like Zorro.

  • scotchydow says:

Steaking of Tanner….. All you Tito haters need to watch the KO SLAM Tito performed on him……EXCELENCE!

  • scotchydow says:

    Steaking???????I meant speaking!

  • Vampslayr says:

Nice to see Evan get another chance. When I think of Tanner I can’t stop thinking of his face after the beating Franklin put on him. They do need credible 185 pound contenders, but unless Evan has dramatically improved, I’m not sure he’ll be one.

Tito will not be a threat at 205. Everyone he fights (except Shamrock) is surpassing him. I think Griffin would beat him in a rematch and wouldn’t be surprised to see Evans win next week (vs Bisping) and beat Tito if they did another match in 2008. Tito is a great promoter, coach and can sell PPV’s so there should always be a home for him in the UFC. Ortiz would never make 185 but could easily be a Heavyweight (which I’m sure he doesn’t want to do).

  • Vampslayr says:

I really like Loiseau, but I agree with scotchydow, after losing the decision to Franklin and then Swick he looked less that average against former Pride fighter Joey Villasenor at Elite-XC.

I would rather see Jason Miller or Robbie Lawler return to the UFC right now instead of the Crow.

  • zero says:

evan tanner is the most underrated fighter in MMA and will rock the MW division. Silva better watch out.

  • holy_dave says:

Alright Zero, i agree that he has been underrated, but Silva, come on, dude, let’s wait a little wile on that one.

  • Vampslayr says:

If Tanner were to beat Anderson Silva, I’d be almost as surprised as I was to see Forrest submit Rua.

  • ptran says:

I don’t see Tanner doing much at this point in his career at middleweight. It would be nice if the UFC would have Paolo Filho or Dan Henderson face off against Silva. Until that happens, I don’t see much competition at Middleweight.
