Thiago Alves may very well win this fight.
He’s improved drastically since ’06, and has a lot of support going his way.
Alves also has the good will of the promoter, something Fitch is sorely lacking.
Unfortunately he’s coming off of a serious medical leave, so their may be a cage rust issue.
Also, a lot of people seem to be under the impression that Fitch beat Alves by a “lucky up-kick”.
While its true the kick did signal the premature end of the fight, it wasn’t like Alves was looking that snappy prior to the up-kick.
If you need to go back and watch the fight.
Fitch was doing what Fitch always does, mainly, grinding down his opponent with just enough solid striking to safely close the distance and take him to the ground.
And more importantly keep him there.
Alves has improved, but I’m not sold on the fact that he’s improved enough to avoid getting “Fitch-slapped” for 15 minutes and catch a UD loss…
I have a real good feeling about Fitch winning this fight..U know when u just have a real strong hunch about something..that’s what this is..all you gamblers should go big $$ on Fitch, mark my words
Fitch is the definition of a grinder who wears down his opponents. Thiago is very capable of beating here in 2010 but a lengthy layoff could be problematic.
I hope Silva comes into this fight in better shape(cardio) and uses his speed and athleticism to make this a memorable rematch.
I don’t agree that Fitch’s upkick in the first fight was lucky…if you throw a strike with intention and it lands, it lands.
Very close fight to call, i like Thiago by KO/TKO.
WAR FITCH!!
