Jorgensen, Pettis-Roller Winner Could Earn Title Shots at WEC 50

Bantamweight Scott Jorgensen will likely earn a shot at the 135-pound title currently held by Dominick Cruz if he defeats Brad Pickett at WEC 50, WEC General Manager Reed Harris recently announced.
The winner of a lightweight showdown between Anthony Pettis and Shane Roller at the August 18 event in Las Vegas is expected to challenge for Ben Henderson’s 155-pound belt.
The WEC 50 fight card is headlined by bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz vs. Joseph Benavidez and also features Chad Mendes vs. Cub Swanson on its Versus-televised main card.

Somewhat amazed that this hasn’t been commented on yet. I always enjoy seeing Jorgenson bring it and I think it’s a good match-up with Pickett.
Shane Roller versus Pettis will be a great fight. Pettis is a well rounded talent and Roller is an extremely strong grappler. If Roller can avoid the big punches then he could very easily set up a rematch with Ben Henderson. Definitely excited for this fight!
I was going to comment on this earlier but before I could something else took my attention away and I never got around to it.
I’m glad that Jorgenson will finally have a chance at a title shot, and I really hope he comes through against Pickett as I think he should.
As far as Pettis and Roller, that will be a good fight, but I don’t think either will have much for Henderson. If Roller does win, I know that Ben won’t be too thrilled about fighting him. With a couple more successful title defenses, which I think he will achieve, it might be time for Ben to move over to the big brother promotion and fight some of the UFC lightweights.
Not to disrespect Pettis, but as well-rounded as he is I just don’t see him keeping Roller off of him, and once it hits the mat, we’re looking at Roller-Benderson 2..
