Nakamura No Shows CSAC Appeal, Granted Extension

Kazuhiro Nakamura no-showed yesterday’s scheduled appeal of his positive drugs of abuse test in front of the CSAC but was granted an extension reports Dann Stupp of MMA Junkie. Nakamura tested positive for marijuana following his UFC 76 loss to Lyoto Machida and faces a $500 fine and suspension until December 21st if the positive test is upheld.

No word was given on when his hearing will now take place though a November 13th hearing to coincide with Sean Sherk’s continued appeal appears the most probable.

In other news out of the CSAC meeting yesterday former UFC fighter Phil Baroni received a reduced 6 month suspension for his positive steroid test. He, like Sherk, originally faced a one year suspension.

His successful appeal, which was surrounded by questionable circumstances, bodes well for Sherk who now appears more likely to succeed in his own appeal for a reduced suspension.
