The UFC has now officially confirmed the entire 9-bout UFC 78 fight card. The event, which takes place November 17th in New Jersey at the recently opened Prudential Center, is headlined by a main event between The Ultimate Fighter 2 winner Rashad Evans and The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Michael Bisping.
As always, MMAFrenzy.com will have knockout coverage of UFC 78 including interviews, live weigh-in results, and live coverage of the event on Saturday, November 17th.
Main Card
- Michael Bisping vs. Rashad Evans
- Thiago Silva vs. Houston Alexander
- David Terrell vs. Ed Herman
- Ryo Chonan vs. Karo Parisyan
- Frank Edgar vs. Spencer Fisher
Undercard
- Chris Lytle vs. Thiago Alves
- Jason Reinhardt vs. Joe Lauzon
- Luke Caudillo vs. Marcus Aurelio
- Akihiro Gono vs. Tamdan McCrory

I think the Herman vs. Terrell fight is an interesting one: If Terrell wins, then he is in line for the next title shot, if Okami or Henderson is not going to fight Silva next. If Okami and Henderson are out of the picture for whatever the reasons may be, then Terrell has to be next in line for the title. If not Terrell, then who else is out there to challenge Silva for the belt?
The UFC Middleweight division is as weak as the UFC 78 card. I honestly think that some Light Heavies should consider moving down, and even some welterweights should consider moving up. I look at fighters like Michael Bisbang as a prime example of someone that should move down into the middleweight class. It is really hard for me to consider him top echelon in the Light Heavy division. Moving down now with perfect record intact would’ve been ideal. It is inevitable that he is going to lose eventually at Lt Heavy, and then if he moves down it’ll look like a retreat. As far as welters go, I look at someone like Karo Parysian. He should move up. It isn’t that he is the top guy in Welter, but it’s the fact that he is a very solid fighter that is a ways away from a title shot in welter (since GSP will get the next title crack most likely, then who knows after that). He could probably get a title shot quicker if he moved up to Middleweight. I don’t necessarilly think he could beat Silva, but I think he’d put up a good fight, and you never know. Just my 2 cents.
I am kind of bummed by this card. All of the fights should be good, but it really doesn’t have any star power. Another fighter who should move weight classes is Jon Fitch. That guy is a monster, and wouldn’t lose any speed bumping up in weight. He is a powerfull guy who might give Silva some trouble.
I agree with both of you. You make an interesting point mikemick about Karo. I guess he would get a title shot quicker as a middleweight. I am not exactly in love with this card either scotchydow. The fights are good, but there is no fight on the card that is great.
Each PPV card shoudl have a great fight meaning a real headliner that people really want to see. The fight I really want to see is Bisping vs. Evans, but this isn’t a headlining fight.
In my opinion, this card does not have any big fights but on paper all these fights looks pretty interesting
I think UFC 78 is a underrated card, i think it is gonna be so great and action-packed, the people who don’t like this card are not true mma fans, this card is way better then ufc 72, ufc 76, ufc 77. so people better check this out they will not be disappointed
Don’t get me wrong, there are some great fights schedueled, it’s just they gave us the Rampage/Hederson fight for free, and that was a title fight. I have already paid for this PPV, I just would like to see something bigger. A return of the Pitbull, or Tito, or even the Gonzaga/Werdum fight. There really isn’t even a #1 contendership fight on this card. Bisbing/Evans cannot be for a title shot?
This is definitely a weak card, but these could turn out to be those really good fights that everyone wishes they had watched , live. I think Edgar and Fisher might make the fight of the night with Edgar all the way for sure. I do believe there may(will) be some highlight reel knockouts and submissions on his night, so I’ll be watching.
Guys, this was supposed to be the Tito/Evans rematch but Tito backed out because of his back or whatever.
And personally, I’d love to watch Rampage slap down either of these guys!
why does everyone hate Evans so much? the guy is undefeated. True he is no big name thats been in the biz for years but come on. Bisping is a good fighter, he justs talks to much and needs a couple servings of humble pie. Its like college football. these are the guys trying to get to the top so they , more than likely, will give it everything they’ve got to prove to Dana they are ready to be the man.
I like the Bisping/Evans and Herman/Terrel. But without a title on the line or some bigger names, I’ll just wait for UFC Unleashed on Spike. Sorry, Dana.
I guess I’m not a “true” MMA fan for not wanting to gobble up everything Dana shovels.
Let’s go, Rashad, I hope he destroys Pissbing and sends him off to lose again to Hamill (yeah, I’m still crying about it). Then he can drop to 185 and try his hand against the MWs. Speaking of dropping weight, when i Swick coming back. I know he was dropping to 170 after the Okami fight, so when are we going to see him again?
No big names no buy!!!!! This definately should be the free one on spike. Bisping and Thiago Silva better have an ambulance waiting in the wings. The rest of the fight card is a pretty good fight night, again FREE ON SPIKE !!!!!
the one i want to see fight the spider is paulo filho
but i do think henderson would beat him easy filho i think is a more even match for the spider to bad he is under contract with the WEC
