On Tuesday, the UFC announced that USADA has informed Jon Jones of a potential doping violation, and the star’s management has followed up with a statement, relaying they plan to have the samples tested again.
The USADA statement reported the flag stems from a sample that was collected from Jones on July 28th, which was the day before he stopped Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.
Since then, Jones’ management sent the following statement to MMA Fighting:
We are all at a complete loss for words right now. Jon, his trainers, his nutritionists and his entire camp have worked tirelessly and meticulously the past 12 months to avoid this exact situation. We are having the samples tested again to determine the validity or source of contamination. Jon is crushed by this news and we are doing whatever we can as a team, to support him.
As a result of the fact Jones just completed a one year suspension from USADA, the light-heavyweight champ could be suspended for multiple years, if he’s unable to launch a successful appeal.
