Stefan Struve Meets Newcomer Christian Morecraft at UFC 117

Undefeated heavyweight Christian Morecraft has signed a four-fight deal with the UFC and will debut against “The Skyscraper” Stefan Struve on the preliminary card of “UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen” on August 6 in Oakland, California, according to mmafightcouncil.

Fighting out of Plymouth, Massachusetts, the 22-year-old Morecraft (6-0) has claimed titles in local promotions Reality Fighting and CFX while scoring six-straight first-round stoppages, most-recently forcing previously unbeaten Lee Beane to submit to punches in May in the longest bout of his career at 2:40.

After being stopped in just 54-seconds by rising star Junior dos Santos in his UFC debut in February 2009, the 6′ 11″ Struve (19-4) earned three-straight wins over Denis Stojnic, Chase Gormley, and Paul Buentello before suffering a first-round knockout to Roy Nelson in March.

UFC 117 is headlined by middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen and also features Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida, Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves, and Junior dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson.
