Vasyl Lomachenko recently raised eyebrows throughout the boxing world, by offering to come in and spar Conor McGregor, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
If you don’t follow Lomachenko, then you might not know he’s widely regarded to be one of the best, pound-for-pound boxers in the world. After Paulie Malignaggi announced he was leaving McGregor’s camp, Lomachenko offered up his sparring services.
As a result, McGregor was asked about the Ukrainian star’s offer at the media workout Friday, and the UFC champ said this (quote via MMA Weekly):
“First of all, he’s 120 pounds. Second of all he’s a southpaw,” McGregor said.
“He’s pretty skilled but he’s not applicable for this camp.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, and chances are, Lomachenko knew he probably wasn’t going to receive an invite as a result of his offer.
McGregor is preparing to box Floyd Mayweather on August 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
