Paulie Malignaggi has been firing away at Conor McGregor in the media recently, and has said he got the better of the UFC champ in sparring. But, one of McGregor’s other sparring partners, has a different take on what went down.
As you surely know, Malignaggi has been dominating the headlines, since he announced he was leaving McGregor’s training camp. Malignaggi was hired by McGregor’s team to help the Irish star help prepare for his August 26th boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. But, the former boxing champ relayed last week that he was leaving the camp, after a social media post was made he didn’t care for. Since then, Malignaggi hasn’t had many nice things to say about McGregor, and he’s also claimed he bested the UFC champ in their second, sparring session.
Well, now another of McGregor’s teammates, Irish boxer Tiernan Bradley, has provided his take on what transpired. In a recent article for the Irish News, here’s some of what Bradley had to say about McGregor’s second sparring session with Malignaggi:
Paulie came out smack talking from the start, he was saying ‘wipe that smirk off your face’ because Conor was smiling at him, that kind of thing.
Conor stayed very professional; Paulie was saying stuff and then getting hit. Conor chose his moments to talk back. There are tactics to mental warfare too, knowing when to talk, and then there’s stupidity.
It wasn’t a one-sided spar either way but I thought one was the clear winner overall and that was Conor. He was very calm, very professional and, honestly, he really impressed me on the day.
That’s just my opinion, people can make up their own minds when they see the video. Paulie has done plenty of talking, but he could be talking himself into a hole when the footage comes out after the Mayweather fight.
The drama continues no? It will be very, very interesting to see that footage, if it ever is released. But, if it went the say Bradley thinks it did, chances are the video will be posted at some juncture.
