Fresh off of victories on Saturday at UFC 113, heavyweights Matt Mitrione and Joey Beltran are reportedly in talks to meet on the preliminary card of UFC 117 on August 7 in Oakland, California, according to Truefighting.
Mitrione (2-0), a former NFL player and castmember on The Ultimate Fighter 10, made his MMA debut in December with a knockout of Marcus Jones before scoring a a second-round TKO of Kimbo Slice on Saturday.
After scoring a second-round TKO of Rolles Gracie in his UFC debut in February as a last-minute replacement, Beltran (12-3) earned a unanimous decision over Tim Hague at UFC 113.
UFC 117 is headlined by middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen and is also expected to include Junior dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson, Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch and Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida.
