A pair of welterweight bouts are in the works for “UFC 117: Silva vs. Sonnen“, as Dustin Hazelett has agreed to take on rising prospect Rick Story at the August 7 event, while Johny Hendricks will look to remain unbeaten when he likely faces Charlie Brenneman on the Oakland, California card, according to MMA Diehards.
After earning “Submission of the Night” honors in back-to-back wins over Josh Burkman and Tamdan McCrory, Hazelett (12-5), who recently turned down an October meeting with Dan Hardy due to his September wedding, will look to bounce back after suffering a first-round knockout to Paul Daley in Janaury.
Story (10-3) dropped a unanimous decision to John Hathaway in his UFC debut last June, but has since won three-straight over Brian Foster, Jesse Lennox, and, most-recently in April, Nick Osipczak.
Following back-to-back WEC wins, Hendricks (8-0) has earned three-straight UFC victories over Amir Sadollah, Ricardo Funch, and TJ Grant, while Brenneman (11-1) successfully made his UFC debut in March with a unanimous decision over fellow newcomer Jason High.
