Following Michael Chiesa’s controversial, submission loss to Kevin Lee last weekend at UFC FN 112, the lightweight has officially launched an appeal.
MMA Fighting is reporting Chiesa’s manager has informed the outlet that Chiesa is appealing the bout’s result with the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission (OSAC). As you’ve surely heard, referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight as Lee was working on a deep, rear-naked-choke, but before Chiesa tapped or went out.
So, Chiesa and his camp are hoping to have the result overturned to a no-contest.
Although Chiesa was clearly in trouble from the choke, the early stoppage sparked widespread outcry, including some harsh words from Dana White towards Yamasaki.
