Sage Northcutt recently lost his original opponent for UFC 214 due to injury, but John Makdessi has agreed to step up and fight “Super”.

Northcutt was originally scheduled to fight Claudio Puelles on July 29th, but the latter had to drop out due to injury. More recently, the Canadian Press announced that Makdessi is stepping in to fight Northcutt, and the UFC has also confirmed the new bout.

Makdessi was KO’d in highlight reel fashion by Landon Vannata in his last outing, which took place in December. Prior to that the talented striker earned a split decision win over Mehdi Baghdad.

Northcut was also finished in his last bout, as Mickey Gall tapped him out with a rear-naked-choke at UFC on FOX 22. Before that the 21 year-old lightweight earned a decision win over Enrique Marin.

So, on paper, that has all the makings of an outstanding fight.
