Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem has passed his “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery” drug test, testing negative for both anabolic steroids and drugs of abuse, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker today confirmed with Sherdog.
The former light heavyweight has faced persistent steroid questions as he ballooned into a formidable heavyweight while fighting outside of the United States, but by passing a drug test he should put the rampant rumors to rest.
Overeem impressed in his return to Strikeforce for the first time in two-in-a-half years, dominating fellow headliner Brett Rogers before scoring a first-round knockout in the “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery” main event.
Five other fighters from the Showtime-televised event, including Antonio Silva, Joey Villasenor, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante, and Antwain Britt, also passed their drug tests, while results are still pending for Rogers, Andrei Arlovski, Roger Gracie, and Kevin Randleman.
