Floyd Mayweather is going to be a massive favorite when he and Conor McGregor throw hands on August 26th, but a member of the decorated boxer’s team knows they can’t “sleep” on the UFC champ.

Unless you just returned to civilization moments ago, you already know that on Wednesday, it was announced McGregor and Mayweather will box August 26th. The long discussed, highly anticipated fight will be contested at 154 pounds, over 12 rounds, and it will go down at the T-Mobile Arena.

Well, following the announcement, a media call was held to promote the bout. During it, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, reportedly had this to say about McGregor’s chances of winning the fight (quote via MMA Fighting):

“This is a fight that Floyd is taking very, very seriously, because we all do know all it takes in boxing is one shot and he don’t have to be a clean shot,” Ellerbe said. “A guy with that kind of power, he can nick you and you can be buzzed…”

“Floyd is 40 years old,” Ellerbe added. “He’s been off for a minute. He’s gotta get his ass up and be prepared for Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor has been active, you know what I’m saying? He’s been knocking guys out. And we’d be a bunch of damn fools to sit around and sleep on this and listen to all the bullsh*t that everybody sits around and talks. No, nuh uh. Floyd’s ass is getting out there and getting up running. And he’s coming. He knows Conor McGregor is coming after him and Floyd is looking to get his ass up out of there, too.”

Now, is there a chance that Mayweather won’t actually push himself too hard in camp? And look past McGregor? It’s certainly possible. After all, Mayweather is one of the greatest defensive fighters in boxing history, and he’s about to face a man with no pro-boxing bouts under his belt.

But, Mayweather is looking to set a new record of 50-0, and further, if he were to lose, it would be one of the greatest upsets in combat sports history. So, “Money” is probably going to do his best to make sure that doesn’t happen.
