Although there’s been no official word if the card could feature Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr., the Nevada Athletic Commission’s confirmed that Mayweather Promotions has been approved for an August 26th card.
NAC executive director Bob Bennett recently confirmed the news to MMA Fighting.
Now, it should be noted here that Mayweather promotes bouts for other fighters, so, the card could be for his company and not for a bout featuring him. Further, Bennett also told the outlet that neither McGregor or Mayweather are currently licensed to box in Nevada, although that could easily change in the near future.
In addition, Mayweather’s initial application was for a card that would be broadcast on Showtime, at the MGM Grand. The expectation is that McGregor – Mayweather would go down at the T-Mobile Arena, and obviously, it would be on PPV. Here again, however, these details could be changed.
