Cody Garbrandt dropped out of a scheduled scrap with TJ Dillashaw several weeks back, as a result of a reported back injury, but his former teammate and friend is questioning whether the 135 champ is really injured.
Garbrandt and Dillashaw were booked to fight in the headliner of UFC 213, which will take place on July 8th. But, as noted above, “No Love” was eventually forced to withdraw, even after heading to a special facility in Germany to receive treatments for his back.
“It’s just the fact that I’ve seen him drunk and wrestling around with his buddies while his back is supposedly hurt doing rehab. There’s some posts that I got tagged in or got sent to me when I woke up one morning, of him getting all drunk with his buddies and him getting into a full blown wrestling match on the ground with Danny Castillo. It’s kind of crazy.
“If it was hurting you to walk, and you couldn’t take the title fight, then you should probably be doing some rehab.”
The video in question, is posted below. Chances are the UFC brass might not care for its content, but, we don’t really know specific details regarding the situation. It could be that Garbrandt’s back is doing better by this juncture. Further, if booze was involved, then, there’s a chance Garbrandt really regretted that decision the day after…
Dillashaw’s next bout remains up in the air, despite the fact he’s been driving hard for a scrap with flyweight champ, Demetrious Johnson.
If that fight doesn’t materialize, then perhaps the UFC will rebook Garbrandt – Dillashaw for the not too distant future?
