KJ Noons will have a chance to avenge one of his two career losses when he makes his Strikeforce debut against fellow lightweight Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum” on June 26 in San Jose, California, Strikeforce today announced.
After suffering a first-round knockout in his first meeting with Bennett in 2007, Noons rebounded to win the EliteXC lightweight title with a victory over Nick Diaz later that year. Following a 48-second TKO of Yves Edwards in mid-2008, Noons remained on the sidelines until March, when he ended a 21-month layoff with a unanimous decision over Andre Amade at DREAM 13.
Known for his frequent legal issues outside of the cage, Bennett (22-16-2) has dropped 3 of his last 5 bouts, including a December loss to Bobby Green in King of the Cage. He had been slated to face Luiz Azeredo on the main card of last Saturday’s canceled “Shine Fights: Worlds Collide” event.
“Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum” is headlined by the return of top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum and the Showtime-televised card also features 145-pound women’s champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Jan Finney.
