GSP Reports He’s Feeling “Positive” Scrap With Michael Bisping is Still on, After Chat With Dana White

Dana White has been talking about Georges St-Pierre returning to the Octagon at 170 pounds, and has said they’re no longer looking at him fighting Michael Bisping. But, now GSP is reporting that after a talk he had with the UFC boss man, he believes a scrap with Bisping will still go down…

A few weeks ago now, White said the UFC was punting its plans for Bisping – GSP, after the latter said he couldn’t fight until November. White announced that Yoel Romero was going to face Bisping next, but then the middleweight champ revealed a knee injury was going to sideline him for a while anyways. In addition, St-Pierre also came forward and reported the reason he couldn’t fight this summer, was because of an eye injury.

Well, since then, both GSP and Bisping have repeated that they still want to fight. But is the UFC still interested? Well, TSN recently spoke with GSP, and the latter said he’s pretty optimistic Bisping will be his next opponent (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“It was changing but I talked to Dana a few days ago and he wrote me at the end. I tried to convince him that it was a good thing that if I come back, it needs to be a situation – I [have] a lot to risk and I need to have something that I can gain from it. So big risk, big reward and fighting Michael Bisping, that’s what that gives me. He’s the one that has the most wins in the UFC history. He just beat my record by one but if I beat him, I will beat him. I know Michael will retire, I think, if he ever loses [again]. . .

“I’m positive [it will happen]. I think it will happen. I think it will. After the conversation I had with him, because the problem I have with Dana is my mistake. We talked through reporters. There’s declaration and stuff so I think it’s good that we talk to each other and can see where are minds are and work together for the benefit of UFC, of me, for the fans, and make everybody happy.”

Now, it is true that when Bisping – GSP was first announced, it was met with mixed reviews, particularly amongst the middleweight contenders. So, it’s kind of interesting to hear that it sounds like, at least, according to GSP, White may be thinking about proceeding with the bout after all.
