Following back-to-back wins in 2009, Strikeforce middleweight contender Tim Kennedy will return to action at the upcoming “Strikeforce: Los Angeles” event against an opponent to-be-determined, while heavyweights Shane Del Rosario and Lolohea Mahe are also set to square off on the June 16 card, according to MMAjunkie.
It’s not yet known if either bout will be part of the event’s Showtime-televised main card, which is headlined by Robbie Lawler vs. Renato “Babalu” Sobral.
A decorated member of the U.S. Army, Kennedy (11-2) ended an 18-month layoff last June with a second-round TKO of Nick Thompson, then secured a second-round submission of Zak Cummings in September for his third-straight win.
Del Rosario (9-0), and EliteXC and M-1 Challenge veteran, remained undefeated in his Strikeforce debut in November, scoring a first-round submission of Brandon Cash, while Mahe (4-1-1) is coming off his first career loss to Lavar Johnson in the main event of March’s Strikeforce Challengers 7.
“Strikeforce: Los Angeles” also now official includes previously-reported matchups between heavyweights Bobby Lashley and Ron Sparks and welterweights Marius Zaromskis and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos.
