Will Campuzano Replaces Charlie Valencia, Faces Eddie Wineland on WEC 49 Main Card

Will CampuzanoWill Campuzano has been pulled from his WEC 49 preliminary matchup with fellow bantamweight Rafael Rebello, and will instead recplace an injured Charlie Valencia and face former WEC 135-pound champ Eddie Wineland on the Versus-televised main card of the June 20 event in Edmonton, Canada.

World Extreme Cagefighting today confirmed the matchup, while Rebello awaits a new opponent for the WEC 49 prelims.

Campuzano (7-1) suffered his first career loss to Damacio Page in his October WEC debut, but rebounded with a unanimous decision over Coty Wheeler in the “Fight of the Night” at January’s WEC 46.

Following a two-fight win streak, Wineland (16-6-1) returned to the WEC last April with a loss to Manny Tapia, but has bounced back with wins over Manny Tapia in October and George Roop in January.

“WEC 49: Varner vs. Shalorus” is headlined by former WEC lightweight champ Jamie Varner vs. undefeated Kamal Shalorus, and also includes Josh Grispi vs. L.C. Davis, Chris Horodecki vs. Ed Ratcliff, and Mark Hominick vs. Yves Jabouin.
