Demetrious Johnson has said he’s not interested in putting his flyweight title on the line against TJ Dillashaw, and Dana White says the champ’s refusal is “insanity”.
After Dillshaw proposed moving down to 125 to fight Johnson next, and White endorsed the idea, “Mighty Mouse” quickly shot it down. According to Johnson, Dillshaw needs to score a win at flyweight, before he can skip the line and challenge for the belt.
“Tell me – you tell me,” White said, when asked why Johnson is refusing to defend his belt against Dillshaw. “It’s insanity.”
“This is the first fight ever in D.J.’s history that he actually gets pay-per-view,” White said. “He gets pay-per-view on this one, and this is the first real fight that people will care about and want to see on pay-per-view, and he is refusing to fight T.J. Dillashaw.”
It will be interesting to see if Johnson changes his mind, or if Ray Borg gets tapped for the next title shot at 125.
