Brandon Vera (8-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) was typing up a storm yesterday on the Sherdog forums and it was a good chance for him to answer questions surround his status with the UFC. Vera was bashed by a lot of people for asking for a large per fight contract and turning down several UFC contract offers as well as offers from Elite XC for up to $1 million per fight.
In a post on the Sherdog forums Vera stated that both he along with Dean Lister as well as others had left the City Boxing gym in California because Vera’s manager and City Boxing owner Rob Kaman, had turned down contract offers without ever consulting the fighter. Here are some quotes from what Vera had to say:
Ima still be with UFC.
When someone lies to you… it becomes a fu*ked up thing. Then they start talking sh*t about your cuz thier wrong? It becomes something else. It is what it is… I’ve left City and am in process with the CSAC for my managerial contract. I WILL be fighting soon, and it WILL be a good one. Hope everyone the best. Yeah………. I’m training.
The CSAC is the California State Athletic Comission through which Vera is in the process of finding a new manager and most likely once again fielding contract offers. Hopefully they will at least get to him this time.
Vera has one fight remaining on his current UFC contract but is believed to be considering a long term run in the UFC should the two parties strike a deal on a contract in the coming months.
