UFC FN 110: Derrick Lewis Reports He’s Received “Big Bump” in Pay

Derrick Lewis continues to prepare for a June 10th bout with Mark Hunt, and the surging heavyweight’s doing so, equipped with a new, more lucrative contract.

Following his memorable, stoppage win over Travis Browne in February, Lewis said he was going to take some time off. But, on a recent edition of “The MMA Hour”, he reported when the UFC asked him to fight Hunt at UFC FN 110, Lewis asked for more money (quote via MMA Fighting):

“I had threw a crazy number at them, and told them this is what I’d like, it’s the only way I’d fight, is for this certain amount of money,” Lewis said. “I didn’t even think they’d say okay, yeah, we’ll agree to that amount. I didn’t even think they would, and I was like, damn, I should have asked for more money then…

“…[But] yeah, it’s a big bump. I think it’s almost [by] half of what I made last fight. I’m probably one of the highest paid heavyweights right now.”

Lewis certainly deserves a raise, as he’s won six straight fights, as he gets set to throw hands with Hunt.
