Stefan Struve won’t have to worry about a lack of crowd support during his next fight, as the UFC’s announced the Dutch fighter will take on Alexander Volkov, in the promotion’s return to Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The heavyweight scrap will headline the September 2nd event.
Heading into the bout, Struve (28-8) is coming off back-to-back wins over Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Daniel Omielanczuk. The fighter has gone 3-2 in in his last 5 contests. Struve is ranked #11 in the heavyweight division.
Volkov (28-6), meanwhile, has won four in a row, and that includes decision wins over Timothy Johnson and Roy Nelson since the Russian fighter joined the UFC last year. Volkov is sitting in the #10 ranking position.
So, this is a pivotal match-up in the heavyweight division. Particularly when you consider that Struve is 7’0 feet tall, and Volkov is 6’7.
