Tony Ferguson Fires Back at Nate Diaz: “Money Never Made me Soft”

Nate Diaz has made it pretty clear now that he’s not interested in fighting Tony Ferguson, and that seems to be firing up “El Cucuy” even more.

Ferugson has been campaigning for a bout with Diaz for a little while now, and the UFC reportedly offered the latter the fight, for July 8th. But, Diaz has said that the offer wasn’t acceptable, and further, he’s pointed out that both Conor McGregor and Ferguson have the same manager, Audie Attar. As a result, Diaz believes that McGregor and Ferguson are in essence, working together.

Well, Ferguson appeared on the latest “MMA Hour” this week, and the lightweight contender didn’t let up in his attacks on Diaz. Here is some of what the talented fighter had to say about the Stockton star (quote via MMA Fighting):

“I might as well Stockton Slap the sh*t outta you. Really? I’m from the 808, man. I don’t have to talk about where I’m from, but I’m tough. I’m a hell of a lot tougher than that dude, because money never made me soft. And sh*t, even if it made me soft, I wouldn’t forget where I came from. Because you know what? You’ve got a place to represent — like you said ‘represent.’ You’ve got a man right here that’s calling you out, and you’re not signing on the dotted line? You’re a clown, dude. You’re fake.”

“He smokes a lot of good weed, I guess, because he’s got a lot of time on his hands just to do that,” Ferguson said. “The dude’s delusional, man. Obviously I’m not in cahoots with McGregor…”

There you have it. Now, while a ton of fans would love to see Ferguson – Diaz go down, it doesn’t seem like this fight will happen. Following Diaz’s big paydays against McGregor, a fight with Ferguson would likely pay much, much less. Especially since Dana White has argued Diaz needs to put himself in a pay-per-view position.
