Donald Cerrone has suffered several, stinging losses during his career, but “Cowboy” has always rebounded and remains one of the UFC’s biggest names. As a result, the rugged vet recently offered some advice to Ronda Rousey, whose future in fighting remains unclear.
Since Rousey was taken out by Amanda Nunes in December, we haven’t heard too much from the star. Shortly after the loss, the former bantamweight champ said she was taking some time to consider her future. But, now, nearly five months later, we still don’t know if Rousey will fight again.
Recently Cerrone attended a media luncheon to discuss his July 8th scrap with Robbie Lawler (which should be wonderous…). The 34 year-old, who is coming off a loss to Jorge Masvidal in January, had this advice for Rousey (quote via Bloody Elbow):
“I don’t get ready to f**king lose, but when you do, yea pull me up mother f**ker, ‘dust off and lets go'”, Cerrone said. “It’s just what happens.”
“The sun’s still rising, life goes on,” Cerrone added. “It’s just a fight. It’s nothing serious, right? It’s nothing like, ‘hey, it’s some serious news’. So her, like, going hiding and going crazy, why? Yea, you got your ass whooped…by one of the best in the world.”
Cerrone isn’t the only one who has had this take on Rousey’s situation, and it it’s certainly true that nearly all of the sport’s greatest fighters have been defeated. But Rousey is in a position where she doesn’t need to fight. So, at this stage, it doesn’t seem like a comeback’s in the cards.
Cerrone – Lawler will be part of UFC 213, which will take place on July 8th in Las Vegas.
