Karo Parisyan Unable to Reach Deal With Strikeforce

Former UFC welterweight contender Karo Parisyan won’t resume his MMA career in Strikeforce, as negotiations between the two sides, which were first reported earlier this month, failed to produce a deal, MMAjunkie reports.

Parisyan (18-5) went 8-1 following a 2004 loss to Georges St-Pierre, losing only to Diego Sanchez while earning wins over the likes of Nick Diaz and Matt Serra.

Following a loss to Thiago Alves in 2008, “The Heat” has been plagued with issues, testing positive for banned painkillers following a split decision win over Dong Hyun Kim last January before withdrawing from a November matchup with Dustin Hazelett the day before the fight, prompting UFC President Dana White to say he’d never fight again in the UFC.

Had a deal been reached, Parisyan was expected to debut at Strikeforce’s June 16 event in Los Angeles.
