A few years ago, Dana White wasn’t on board with adding women’s divisions to the UFC, but now the promotion’s President says they can’t have enough…
If you missed it, recently the UFC announced that TUF 26 will feature women, flyweight fighters, and that the show will determine the promotion’s first ever, women’s 125 pound champ. The news comes not that long after the UFC added a women’s featherweight division.
Recently White spoke with ESPN W, and while doing so, he said this:
“Women’s fighting has become very popular,” White said. “I waited for a while to pull the trigger on this division, and I think it’s time. I’m ready to do it now.”
“There are a lot of 125-pound women out there fighting already,” White added. “Now they’ll get the opportunity to fight in the UFC. We’ll have four women’s divisions, and as far as I’m concerned we can’t have enough.”
