Thiago Tavares has been forced to withdraw from UFC 114, as an elbow injury will prevent him from facing fellow lightweight Melvin Guillard at the May 29 event in Las Vegas, according to BJPenn.com.
A replacement for the preliminary card matchup has yet to be confirmed, while a timeline for Tavares’ return is not yet known.
Tavares (14-3-1) improved to 4-3 in the UFC with a unanimous decision over Manny Gamburyan in January 2009, but fought to a majority draw against Nik Lentz in January, while Guillard (42-6-2) has won 4 of his last 5, including a unanimous decision over Ronnys Torres at January’s UFC 109.
UFC 114 is headlined by a grudge match between former 205-pound champs Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans, and also includes Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Jason Brilz, Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller, Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow, and John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez.

“BUMB”, by which I guess you mean bum?
Isn’t that a bit harsh?
^AGREED
No fighter bashing at the frenzy!
who cares about tavares anyway? Never impressed me…maybe that Siver guy can rematch him
I actually like tavares. Except for when he tapped but the ref didn’t catch it so he got out of the round.
I think he’s got some serious potential if he focuses.
I just hope guillard fights like a pro and acts like an adult in the cage.
