The vast majority of combat sports pundits and well educated fans believe Conor McGregor has little to no chance of defeating Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing match, and the latter’s father, is one of them. So much so, in fact he claims he could take the UFC champ out…
Although most folks, who understand boxing, don’t believe Mayweather Jr. – McGregor would be a competitive fight, the fight will still generate a ridiculous amount of money. Thus, this is why Dana White recently said he believes the boxing bout will happen.
White, however, has also been saying that he believes McGregor could give Mayweather Jr. some trouble. For example, the UFC President has pointed out that McGregor will have a size advantage over the boxing star; he’s also noted how hard the UFC’s lightweight champ hits.
Recently Fight Hype spoke with Floyd Mayweather Sr., however, and while doing so, the interviewer argued McGregor hasn’t looked good in sparring footage. Mayweather Sr. proceeded to say this about the yet to be finalized bout (quote via MMA Fighting):
“He don’t want that fight. Floyd’s gonna turn him upside down,” Mayweather Sr. said. “That be like you and Floyd in the ring! [Laughs]. He looks bad in the ring. That’s a done deal right there. They’ve already showed the best that he’s got.
“He ain’t nothing but talk! I told them people on the TV already, forget about Floyd. Let’s throw Floyd to the side. Here I am, I’m a 64-year-old man and I’ll beat your ass. I’ll beat the s**t out of McGregor! Anytime he wants it, let’s go.”
Now, does Mayweather Sr. really believe that? Maybe. Maybe not. But, not surprisingly, he doesn’t think his son will have any trouble defeating the Irish star.
