It looks like Cub Swanson won’t be available for a quick turn around fight, if he wanted to, as the featherweight’s reported he’s broken his hand…for the tenth time.
Swanson took on Artem Lobov at UFC Fight Night 108 last weekend, and won the memorable fight via unanimous decision. Since then, however, the perennial contender told FOX Sports the following (quote via MMA Junkie):
“Unfortunately, I just got back from the doctor’s (office), and I don’t know when, but I broke my hand at some point (in the fight),” he told FOX Sports. “That’s the 10th time I’ve broken my hand now, so it’s been a little bit of a problem.”
“But I was only throwing single shots because he had the hardest head,” Swanson added. “Every time I was hitting him by the third, fourth and fifth rounds, every time I hit him, my hands were just aching…”
Ya. That’s a lot of broken hands. Hopefully Swanson has a speedy recovery. Following Swanson’s win over Lobov, he reported he didn’t want to fight again until the end of this year, or in early 2018. So, the good news is that this injury won’t impact that timeline.
