We don’t know if Ronda Rousey will ever throw down in the Octagon again, but according to WWE personality Paul Heyman, “Rowdy” could successfully move to pro-wrestling.
Following Rousey’s disastrous, stoppage defeat to Amanda Nunes in December, the former bantamweight champ said she was going to take some time to consider her future. UFC President Dana White has said, however, he doesn’t believe the star will fight again. Although, Rousey made a post on Instagram last month, which had some folks wondering if she was considering a comeback after all.
Well, Heyman was a guest on “The Fight Society” podcast, and Rousey was brought up. The Judoka made an appearance at Wrestlemania in 2015, and Rousey’s also said she’d welcome a chance to do it again. As a result, Heyman was asked if he thinks WWE fans would welcome Rousey into their world, despite her defeats (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I think the WWE audience would embrace Ronda Rousey with open arms,” Heyman said. “Just her name recognition alone is huge. It doesn’t matter, her past two experiences in the UFC. All that matters is if she got involved in a story that people could relate to and sink their teeth into and get excited about.”
“I think Ronda Rousey doing anything in WWE is a natural fit,” Heyman added. “I’d love to see it and would be happy to discuss with her all the benefits that she could enure by being a Paul Heyman girl.”
One would think that Heyman’s likely right about this, although, this writer is far from an insider on pro-wrestling….
It will be interesting to see what Rousey decides to do. Making an appearance here and there in the WWE ring could produce some nice pay checks for her, as would more acting gigs. Of course, a return to the Octagon would also deliver some big paydays as well. Yes, even though Rousey’s coming off back-to-back losses
