Stipe Miocic has established himself as one of the most dangerous and entertaining fighters to watch in the heavyweight division, and it doesn’t sound like the champ plans on changing his approach.
Miocic is preparing for his second title defense, as the heavy handed fighter will take on Junior dos Santos at UFC 211, May 13th. The two fought before in 2014, and JDS won the tightly contested bout via decision. Since then, Miocic has won four in a row, and he’s finished every fighter he’s faced. In fact, Miocic has scored stoppage wins in 7 of his 10 UFC victories to date.
Well, recently the Ohio fighter spoke to FloCombat, and while discussing his approach to fighting, Miocic stated this:
“I’m just locked in like I do every fight. I have seven performance bonuses, that’s the most in the heavyweight division,” said Miocic. “I’m still young and I’ve got a lot more coming.”
“I’m gonna go out there, and I go to bang, man. I don’t care what happens, I’m gonna go out there swinging – win or lose…I’m gonna be winning, though.”
The first fight between Miocic and dos Santos was fantastic, and it’s pretty hard to imagine the rematch being any worse, considering the abilities and aggressive style of both men. Can JDS reclaim the heavyweight crown? After losing it nearly five years ago? We shall see.
UFC 211 will go down in Dallas, Texas.
