As many have been predicting would be the case for a little while now, Ryan Bader has signed with Bellator.
The 33 year-old fighter announced the news not too long ago, and after doing so, Bader challenged Bellator 205 champ Phil Davis to fight on June 24th. Recently it was reported that Bellator is hosting a PPV card that day, which will feature Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva and Fedor Emelianenko vs. Matt Mitrione.
Bader and Davis fought back in 2015 when they were both with the UFC, and the latter lost the fight via split decision.
“Darth” ended his UFC deal last November, by stopping Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Bader was a top five ranked light-heavyweight with the UFC at the time, but in February, Dana White made it pretty clear the fighter likely wasn’t returning.
So, that’s another big signing for Bellator. Don’t be surprised if Davis – Bader gets booked for Bellator 180.
