Bellator 16 Results: Middleweights Baker, Hess, Shlemenko, and Schambari Advance

Bryan BakerMiddleweights Bryan Baker, Jared Hess, Alexander Shlemenko, and Eric Schambari advanced to the semifinals of Bellator’s 185-pound tournament after earning victories at Thursday’s Bellator 16 event in Kansas City.

Baker, a WEC veteran and tourney favorite, scored a first-round TKO of Sean Loeffler in the Bellator 16 headliner, while Hess choked out former IFL champ Ryan McGivern with a second-round guillotine.

Also on the Fox Sports Net-televised main card, Shlemenko topped Matt Major by unanimous decision and Eric Schambari stopped Luke Zachrich with a first-round arm triangle.

MAIN CARD

  • Bryan Baker def. Sean Loeffler via TKO (strike) – Round 1, 2:34
  • Jared Hess def. Ryan McGivern via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 2, 1:54
  • Alexander Shlemenko def. Matt Major via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
  • Eric Schambari def. Luke Zachrich via submission (arm triangle) – Round 1, 3:04

PRELIMINARY CARD

  • Brent Weedman def. Rudy Bears via TKO (strikes) – Round 1, 4:19
  • Danny Tims def. Brian Davidson via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
  • Eric Marriott def. Demi Deeds via submission (triangle choke) – Round 2, 3:02
  • Drew Dober def. Nick Nolte via submission (arm triangle) – Round 1, 4:45
