Georges St-Pierre is one of the greatest fighters and ambassadors the sport has ever known, but if you think Michael Bisping’s going to ease off on the trash talk in advance of their scrap, think again.
Recently the UFC announced that St-Pierre is going to fight Bisping in his long awaited, return to the Octagon. The bout has yet to receive an official date, but during a press conference on Friday, Dana White said he’s hoping to book it for July.
Well, during that same presser, which Bisping was late for, the middleweight champ repeatedly sent verbal shots GSP’s way. Case in point, while referring to St-Pierre’s decision to take a hiatus from fighting, back in 2013, Bisping said (quote via MMA Junkie):
“Georges, listen, while you were away because you were so scared of everybody taking steroids, I was man enough to still be fighting those guys,” Bisping said, in reference to GSP’s stance that he wouldn’t return to fighting, until the UFC took more steps to curb the use of PEDs. “You went away. You went and (expletive) chased aliens. I don’t know what you did. No one gives a (expletive) where you were or what you did. Coming back, the sport is a different place. Game over.”
Bisping also took aim at the former welterweight champ’s size, more than once. He also repeated his theory that St-Pierre wanted the fight, because, according to “The Count”, the latter thinks it will be easy.
GSP, however, shot that argument down and noted that facing Bisping will be a challenge. He also told Bisping, as the champ proceeded with his verbal warfare, “You don’t scare me one bit. Not one bit.”
Bisping is one of the best in the game at promoting a fight and getting under his opponent’s skin, so, get your popcorn ready for all the pre-fight banter that’s coming.
