It looks like Demian Maia is not going to wait for the winner of this Saturday’s Tyron Woodley – Stephen Thompson bout after all….
MMA Junkie is reporting that UFC officials have confirmed with the outlet that Maia will face Jorge Masvidal at the May 13th, UFC 211 card in Dallas. This comes after Masvidal reported Maia had turned down a bout with him, and a statement from the latter, where he outlined why the bout wasn’t what he had “in mind”.
Maia is riding a six fight winning streak which includes dominant, submission wins over contenders like Matt Brown, Gunnar Nelson, Neil Magny and Carlos Condit.
Masvidal is coming off an impressive, stoppage win over Donald Cerrone in January, which was “Gamebred’s” third in a row.
So, UFC 211 is looking pretty stacked, as it also will feature Stipe Miocic – Junior dos Santos, Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Jessica Andrade, and Fabricio Werdum vs. Ben Rothwell.
