Georges St-Pierre has said he’s a better fighter today, than the one who took a hiatus back in 2013, but Johny Hendricks believes his comeback could be a rough one…
Recently Dana White announced that the UFC and St-Pierre have come to terms on a new deal, opening the door to the former welterweight champ’s much discussed and long awaited return. More recently, GSP’s team posted a video, which featured the Canadian saying the fighter of today would beat the one who ruled the 170 division.
Well, Hendricks was a guest on the latest “MMA Hour“, and of course, he was asked to comment on GSP’s pending return. Hendricks relayed that he’s surprised St-Pierre’s coming back. “Bigg Rigg” also said he would love another chance to fight the man who earned a tightly contested, split decision win over him back in 2013.
In addition, Hendricks said this (quote via MMA Mania):
“Time changes, it always does. One day, the time is going to change where I am not going to be able to compete with these guys anymore. It’s just the way that it is. Once I showed how to defeat Georges St-Pierre, I think people are going to start using that gameplan and it’s going to be harder on him,”
“You look at Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture, these guys that didn’t stay out when they were on top. They come back and are not the same fighter. Three and a half years, two years is a long time for someone to decrease or for everyone else to move up.”
GSP’s comeback will almost certainly be one of the year’s biggest storylines. Everyone’s waiting to see who he’ll face in his return bout.
